Product Overview

330104-00-14-90-02-00 In Stock — Stop the Clock on Your Unplanned Downtime

Your turbine tripped at 02:40. The DCS alarm log is screaming shaft radial vibration high-high. Maintenance pulled the probe — tip chipped, cable jacket cracked at the bearing housing exit, signal dead. You need a Bently Nevada 330104-00-14-90-02-00 on-site before the next shift handover or you’re looking at a full production loss event. We stock it. We ship it today.

The 330104-00-14-90-02-00 is a 14 mm eddy current proximity probe with a 90-degree right-angle cable exit, part of the Bently Nevada 3300 Series — the global standard for turbomachinery shaft monitoring for over 40 years. The 90° exit geometry is not cosmetic: it is a hard mechanical requirement in most steam turbine and centrifugal compressor bearing housings where a straight-exit probe physically cannot be routed without kinking the cable within the first 50 mm. Getting the wrong exit angle means the probe goes back in the box. We ship the right part the first time.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Step 1 — Confirm the fault before pulling the probe. A dead or erratic signal on a 3300/3500 monitor channel does not automatically mean a failed probe. Check the Proximitor driver output voltage first (should be between -2 VDC and -18 VDC at gap). If the driver output is rail-high (-24 VDC) or rail-low (0 VDC), the probe is open-circuit or short-circuit respectively. If the output is within range but noisy, suspect the extension cable connector or the bearing housing ground loop before condemning the probe.

Step 2 — Gap setting is non-negotiable. The 330104-00-14-90-02-00 operates on a 14 mm tip. The nominal installation gap to the shaft surface is 1.0 mm (40 mil), confirmed by a DC output of approximately -10 VDC at the Proximitor. Use a non-ferrous feeler gauge or a calibrated gap tool. Do not rely on thread count alone — shaft surface runout and housing bore tolerances will shift your actual gap. Verify with a multimeter at the Proximitor output terminals before buttoning up the bearing housing.

Step 3 — Match the complete transducer system. The 3300 Series is a calibrated system: probe + extension cable + Proximitor driver must be matched as a set. If you are replacing only the probe, verify that the replacement probe’s calibration data matches the existing Proximitor. Mixing a 14 mm probe with an 8 mm Proximitor will produce a scale factor error of approximately 35%, which will not trip an alarm but will give you false vibration readings — a silent killer in turbomachinery protection. Check the Proximitor label for the probe diameter it was calibrated with.

Step 4 — 90° exit cable routing. Route the cable away from the bearing housing in a smooth arc with a minimum bend radius of 50 mm. Secure the cable at the first clamp point within 100 mm of the probe body to prevent vibration-induced fatigue at the cable-to-probe junction — this is the single most common mechanical failure point on field-installed proximity probes. Use stainless steel cable ties, not plastic, in high-temperature zones.

Common fault codes on 3500 monitors:

  • OK LED off, PWR LED on: Probe gap out of range — recheck installation gap and Proximitor output voltage.
  • Channel bypassed / inhibited: Check if the channel was manually bypassed during a previous maintenance event and never re-enabled. Clear bypass in the 3500 rack configuration software.
  • Intermittent high vibration spikes: Suspect extension cable connector corrosion or loose BNC/proprietary connector at the Proximitor input. Clean with contact cleaner and re-torque.
  • Constant -24 VDC at Proximitor output: Open circuit — probe cable broken internally or connector open. Replace probe assembly.
  • Constant 0 VDC at Proximitor output: Short circuit — probe tip shorted to ground (physical contact with shaft or housing). Inspect probe tip clearance immediately.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 3300 Series probe body is constructed from 316 stainless steel with a PEEK (polyether ether ketone) probe tip housing — a material chosen specifically for its dimensional stability across a temperature range of -35°C to +177°C and its resistance to the hydrocarbon-laden, high-humidity atmospheres found inside compressor casings and turbine bearing pedestals. The cable jacket is rated for continuous immersion in turbine lube oil and resists the aromatic solvents used in plant cleaning operations.

Vibration endurance: the probe assembly is qualified to withstand 20 g sinusoidal vibration across 10–2000 Hz — a specification that exceeds the bearing housing vibration environment of virtually every rotating machine in which it is installed. The 90° cable exit fitting is machined from solid stainless and crimped, not glued, to the probe body, eliminating the adhesive joint failure mode that plagues lower-grade proximity probes in high-temperature applications.

In offshore and coastal installations where salt fog and condensation are daily realities, the probe’s IP67-rated connector system prevents moisture ingress at the most vulnerable point in the transducer chain. Units stored in our Xiamen warehouse are maintained in climate-controlled conditions with desiccant packaging to preserve connector integrity during transit.

Global Express Logistics

Our dispatch hub is in Xiamen, China — a major international cargo gateway with daily DHL Express and FedEx International Priority departures. Standard transit times from Xiamen to major industrial hubs: Europe (Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp): 3–5 business days. Middle East (Dubai, Dammam, Doha): 2–3 business days. Southeast Asia (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta): 1–2 business days. North America (Houston, Calgary, New York): 4–6 business days. Australia (Perth, Brisbane): 3–4 business days.

Every shipment includes a commercial invoice with accurate HS code classification (HS 9031.80 for proximity transducers), a packing list, and a certificate of conformance. For customers in countries with import duty exemptions on industrial instrumentation, we can provide the necessary documentation to support customs clearance. Dangerous goods: this product contains no hazardous materials and ships without restriction under IATA regulations.

For emergency AOG (aircraft on ground equivalent) situations — plant shutdown, safety system bypass, regulatory compliance deadline — contact us directly on WhatsApp for same-day dispatch confirmation. We do not route urgent orders through a ticketing queue.
