- Alert/Danger relay chattering: Check setpoint configuration in System 1. After a card swap, setpoints do NOT automatically reload from the rack — you must push the configuration from System 1 to the new card explicitly. This is the #1 cause of post-replacement trips.
Replacement Procedure — Critical Steps:
- Power down the rack slot via the inhibit function in System 1 before extracting the card. Do not hot-swap without inhibiting — the relay outputs will de-energize and may trip the machine.
- Note the card’s slot address before removal. The 3500/50E uses slot-based addressing; inserting into the wrong slot will cause a rack configuration fault.
- After insertion, allow 90 seconds for the card to complete its self-test sequence before re-enabling in System 1.
- Push the full channel configuration from System 1 to the card. Verify setpoints, full-scale RPM, and transducer type match the original configuration exactly.
- Perform a slow-roll check before returning the machine to service — confirm both channels are reading within 2 RPM of each other at low speed.
