Scenario 1 — Communicator powers on but fails to detect device on loop
Nine times out of ten this is a loop resistance issue. The HART FSK signal requires a minimum 250 Ω in the loop to ride on top of the 4–20 mA signal. If the DCS input card presents less than 250 Ω, insert a 250 Ω resistor in series at the field junction box before connecting the YHC-5150X terminals. Confirm loop current is between 4 and 20 mA — a dead transmitter sitting at 0 mA or 3.6 mA fault current will prevent HART handshake entirely.

Scenario 2 — Device detected but DD not found, parameters show as raw hex
The unit’s internal DD library may be outdated. Connect via USB to a PC running Yokogawa FieldMate software and pull the latest DD package from the Yokogawa DD library server. After update, re-attempt connection. If the device is a third-party HART instrument, verify the manufacturer ID and device type code against the HART Foundation device registry — some older instruments require manual DD file import.
