Product Overview

330101-00-08-10-02-05 Shaft Monitoring Down? Every Idle Hour Costs More Than This Probe — We Ship Within 24 Hours

The call came in at 02:00. Your turbine protection system tripped on a “Channel Not OK” fault. The control room is dark on shaft vibration. Operations is breathing down your neck. Your local supplier just quoted you six weeks. Six weeks is not a maintenance window — it’s a production catastrophe.

We carry the Bently Nevada 330101-00-08-10-02-05 in bonded stock at our Xiamen facility. This is the 8mm eddy current proximity probe at the core of the 3300 XL Proximity Transducer System — the industry standard for rotating machinery protection on gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and boiler feed pumps worldwide. Order confirmed before 14:00 CST, it leaves our dock the same day. No broker. No middleman. No excuses.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Ten years of field calls on 3300 XL systems teach you where the real problems hide. Here is what actually matters when you are standing in front of a faulted channel at 03:00.

Diagnosing “Channel Not OK” Before You Pull the Probe
Measure the Proximitor® output voltage first. At a static gap of 1.0 mm on AISI 4140 steel, a healthy 330101-00-08-10-02-05 system reads –10.4 VDC ± 0.5 VDC. A reading of –24 VDC indicates an open circuit — the probe cable is broken, not the Proximitor®. A reading of 0 VDC or near-zero indicates a short — check the connector and the first 300 mm of cable from the probe body, where vibration fatigue cracks concentrate. Do not condemn the Proximitor® until you have eliminated the probe and cable.

Gap Setting — The Step That Kills Machines When Skipped
After installing the replacement 330101-00-08-10-02-05, set the static gap with a non-ferrous feeler gauge before closing the bearing housing. Target 1.0 mm. Confirm Proximitor® output is –10.4 VDC ± 0.5 VDC. A gap set at 0.2 mm will clip the negative peaks of the vibration waveform and produce false high-vibration trips within minutes of startup. A gap set at 2.7 mm puts you outside the linear range — your vibration readings will be systematically low and you will miss a developing bearing fault.

Extension Cable System Matching — Do Not Mix Calibration Sets
The 330101-00-08-10-02-05 is calibrated as a three-component system: probe, extension cable, and Proximitor®. The total cable length — probe integral cable plus extension — must match the Proximitor® calibration certificate. Standard calibrated lengths are 5 m, 9 m, and 15 m total. Substituting an extension cable from a different calibration set shifts the system sensitivity by up to 8% and introduces a DC offset error that will not be caught by the Proximitor® self-test. Always verify the extension cable part number against the original system documentation before installation.

Electrical Runout After Replacement
If 1× vibration readings are elevated immediately after probe replacement on a machine that was previously clean, suspect electrical runout on the shaft target zone. Residual magnetism from previous maintenance, surface grinding marks, or material inhomogeneity in the AISI 4140 target area all appear as vibration to an eddy current system. Demagnetize the target zone, re-establish slow-roll vectors, and document the electrical runout compensation before returning the machine to service. Skipping this step will generate nuisance alarms and erode operator confidence in the protection system.

Connector Torque — The Overlooked Detail
Hand-tighten the coaxial connector at the Proximitor® input, then apply no more than one-quarter turn with a wrench. Over-torquing deforms the center pin socket and creates an intermittent contact that produces random noise spikes indistinguishable from real vibration events. This failure mode is nearly impossible to diagnose without a spare Proximitor® for substitution testing.

Pre-Startup Verification Checklist

  • Static Proximitor® output at nominal gap: –10.4 VDC ± 0.5 VDC ✓
  • OK relay energized with shaft stationary ✓
  • Slow-roll vibration amplitude below 0.5 mil pp ✓
  • No alarm or danger setpoint active at operating speed ✓
  • Oscilloscope waveform: clean sinusoidal, no clipping at peaks ✓
  • Extension cable part number verified against calibration certificate ✓

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 330101-00-08-10-02-05 was not engineered for a clean instrument room. It was built for the bearing pedestals of Frame 7 gas turbines in 50°C desert ambient, for the compressor trains of FPSO vessels where salt spray and humidity are constant, and for the boiler feed pump vaults of power stations where steam leaks and thermal cycling are facts of life.

The armored stainless steel cable jacket is not a cosmetic feature. It absorbs the mechanical abuse of being routed through bearing housings, cable trays, and conduit runs that vibrate continuously at frequencies from 10 Hz to 10 kHz. The probe body temperature rating of 177°C is not a safety margin — it is a working specification for probes mounted directly on high-speed steam turbine bearing housings at full load.

Eddy current technology carries an inherent reliability advantage over contact-based sensors: no moving parts, no wear surfaces, no lubrication requirements, and no degradation mechanism tied to operating hours. The probe does not age in service the way a piezoelectric accelerometer or a contact thermocouple does. Primary field failure modes are mechanical — cable damage from abrasion or fatigue, connector corrosion in high-humidity environments, and target surface degradation from shaft contact during a rub event. None of these are internal electronics failures.

Every unit shipped from our Xiamen facility is inspected for connector pin integrity, cable armor continuity, and documentation completeness before it leaves the warehouse. Any unit showing evidence of prior installation, connector wear, or cable jacket damage is rejected and not offered for sale. What arrives at your site is a probe ready to install directly into a critical machine — not one that requires incoming inspection before use.

Global Express Logistics

Our warehouse operates from Xiamen, Fujian Province — a primary export hub with direct daily freight capacity to international destinations via Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. This location gives us same-day handoff to DHL Express and FedEx International Priority for shipments across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

Orders confirmed before 14:00 CST are dispatched the same business day. Export documentation — commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and certificate of conformance — is prepared in parallel with packing and handed to the courier with the shipment. We handle HS code classification and customs value declaration to reduce clearance delays at destination.

Estimated Transit Times from Xiamen:

  • Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia): 2–3 business days — DHL Express
  • Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait): 3–4 business days — FedEx International Priority
