Fault Identification

Before pulling the module, confirm the fault is hardware-side. On the FCN engineering console (FAST/TOOLS or FieldMate), check for I/O node communication errors — specifically Node Communication Timeout or Module Hardware Fault alarms on the DS600 rack. If the fault clears on a cold restart but returns within minutes under load, the DS600-00-1M is the prime suspect: internal capacitor degradation causes intermittent bus dropout under thermal stress, a known failure mode on units with 8+ years of continuous service.
