Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Fault Code 4 — Over-Current / Short Circuit: This is the most common failure mode. Before you install the new drive, disconnect the motor leads and measure phase-to-phase resistance. Fault Code 8 — Over-Temperature: The SD17060B-25 runs warm by design, but if the cabinet ambient exceeds 45°C or the drive’s heatsink fins are clogged with dust, thermal shutdown is inevitable. Before reinstalling, blow out the cabinet, verify the cooling fan is spinning, and check that the drive has at least 25 mm of clearance on all sides.   • Disconnect motor leads first, then signal wiring, then DC power.
  • Slide the drive off the DIN rail. Install the new SD17060B-25 and reconnect in reverse order: DC power → signal wiring → motor leads.
  • Set DIP switches to match the photographed configuration on the original unit.
  • Power up with motor leads disconnected. Confirm the drive appears on the RS-485 network and responds to the AMCI Net Configurator software.
  • Load the saved configuration file from your backup (you do have a backup, right?). If not, re-enter motor parameters: rated current, microstep resolution, and standstill current reduction.
  • Reconnect motor leads. Jog the axis at low speed and verify direction and encoder feedback before returning to automatic mode.

Firmware Note: If your PLC program uses AMCI Add-On Instructions (AOI), confirm the AOI version matches the drive firmware. Mismatched AOI versions can cause erratic behavior or prevent the drive from accepting motion commands. Download the latest firmware and AOI package from AMCI’s website and update both simultaneously during the replacement window.
