Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
The VFD007L21A is a workhorse in light-duty conveyor, pump, and fan applications, but it has predictable failure modes. Here’s what to check before you condemn the drive — and what to watch when you drop in a replacement.
Common Fault Codes & Field Fixes:
- OC (Over-Current) at startup: Nine times out of ten this is acceleration ramp too aggressive. Before swapping the drive, try extending Pr.01 (Accel Time) from the default 10 s to 20–30 s. If OC persists under no-load, the IGBT output stage is gone — replace the drive.
- OV (Over-Voltage) during decel: The VFD-L has no built-in braking chopper on the 0.75 kW frame. If your load has significant inertia (fans, flywheels), extend Pr.02 (Decel Time) or add an external braking resistor via the B1/B2 terminals. Ignoring this will blow the DC bus capacitors on the replacement unit too.
- LV (Low-Voltage / Under-Voltage): Check incoming single-phase supply first. The VFD007L21A is sensitive to sags below 180V. A weak transformer or long cable run will trigger LV repeatedly. Measure at the drive terminals under load, not at the panel busbar.
- GFF (Ground Fault): Disconnect the motor leads at U/V/W and megger the motor windings to ground. If the motor is leaking, the new drive will fault immediately on power-up. Fix the motor first.
- Display dead, no response: Check the 24V control power supply on the control board. A failed capacitor on the SMPS section is a known wear-out mode after 5+ years. If the main power LED is off but input voltage is present, the drive is not repairable in the field — swap it.
Replacement Configuration Checklist:
- Record all parameter settings from the old drive before removal (use Pr.00 = 8 to lock, then document Pr.01–Pr.22 at minimum).
- The VFD007L21A does not support auto-addressing on a Modbus network — you must manually set the station address via Pr.09 (Communication Address). Match the address of the failed unit exactly or your SCADA will lose the node.
- There are no DIP switches on this model for address or baud rate — all communication parameters are software-set via the keypad (Pr.09 = address, Pr.10 = baud rate, Pr.11 = stop bits).
- Verify firmware revision on the new unit matches your existing fleet if you are running a multi-drive system with parameter copy (KPD-LE02 keypad). Mismatched firmware versions can cause parameter upload errors.
- Torque the input and output terminal screws to 1.2 N·m. Under-torqued connections are the leading cause of premature OC faults on replacement units.
- Run a no-load test at 20 Hz for 2 minutes before connecting the motor. Confirm output voltage symmetry across U-V, V-W, W-U with a true-RMS meter.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The VFD-L Series was designed for panel-mount industrial environments, not climate-controlled server rooms. The VFD007L21A carries an IP20 enclosure rating and is validated to operate continuously at ambient temperatures from -10°C to +50°C (derate above 40°C at 2% per degree). The internal forced-air cooling path is designed to handle the thermal load of continuous 100% duty cycle operation within that envelope.
Vibration resistance is rated to 9.8 m/s² (1G) at 10–20 Hz, which covers the resonance bands common in pump skids and conveyor frames. The PCB conformal coating on production units provides baseline protection against condensation and airborne particulates — though the IP20 rating means you should not install this drive in a wet or dusty environment without an appropriate enclosure (NEMA 12 or IP54 cabinet minimum for those conditions).
Electrolytic capacitors on the DC bus are the life-limiting component. Delta rates the VFD007L21A for a 10-year design life at 40°C ambient with normal duty cycles. Units running in high-ambient or high-cycle applications (e.g., frequent start-stop on a press) will see capacitor degradation earlier. If you are replacing a drive that failed after 7–8 years of service, this is expected wear-out, not a quality defect.
The drive’s built-in EMI filter meets EN 61800-3 Category C2, reducing conducted emissions on the supply side without requiring an external line filter for most standard industrial installations.
Global Express Logistics
Our dispatch hub is in Xiamen, Fujian, China — one of the country’s primary export ports with direct DHL, FedEx, and UPS gateway access. Here’s how a typical urgent order moves:
- Order confirmed before 14:00 CST: Same-day pick, pack, and handover to carrier. Tracking number issued within 4 hours.
- DHL Express Worldwide: Southeast Asia 1–2 days, Europe 3–4 days, North America 4–5 days, Middle East 3–5 days. These are door-to-door transit times under normal customs conditions.
- FedEx International Priority: Available as an alternative for destinations where FedEx has stronger last-mile coverage (e.g., remote US locations, Canada, Australia).
- Commercial documentation: Every shipment includes a commercial invoice, packing list, and HS Code 8504.40 declaration. Certificate of Origin (Form A or CO) available on request for duty preference programs.
- Customs clearance: We pre-fill all export documentation to minimize customs hold risk. For orders to the EU, we can provide EORI-compatible documentation. For orders to the US, we include HTS 8504.40.4000 classification.
- Bulk orders (5+ units): Air freight consolidation via freight forwarder available. Contact us for a freight quote — we can often beat published DHL rates on larger shipments.
We do not use postal services (China Post, ePacket) for industrial components. Every shipment moves on a tracked express service with full liability coverage.
