Product Overview

1336F-MCB-SP2L 164989 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime. Ship Today.

Your 1336 PLUS II drive is dead. The line is stopped. Every minute costs money — and you already know it. The Allen-Bradley 1336F-MCB-SP2L (Ref: 164989) is the main control board that runs the entire drive: speed reference processing, fault diagnostics, parameter memory, and HIM communication. When it fails, nothing moves. We stock it. We ship it fast. That’s the only thing that matters right now.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Ten years on the floor taught me one thing: most engineers waste 2–3 hours chasing the wrong fault before they confirm the MCB is dead. Here’s how to cut that time to 20 minutes.

Common fault codes pointing to MCB failure on 1336 PLUS II:

  • F002 — Auxiliary Input Fault: Often misread as a wiring issue. If the auxiliary circuit checks out clean, the MCB’s input logic has failed.
  • F012 — Parameter Checksum Error: The MCB’s EEPROM has corrupted. A power cycle won’t fix it. Board replacement is the only path.
  • F033 — SW Current Limit: Persistent after motor and cable checks? The MCB’s current sensing algorithm is misfiring — board-level fault.
  • F048 — Loss of Load: If load is confirmed present and the fault persists, the MCB’s analog input processing has degraded.
  • Drive powers up, HIM shows nothing, no fault code: Classic MCB communication failure. The board is alive but not talking. Replace it.

Replacement procedure — field-tested sequence:

  1. De-energize the drive and verify zero voltage at the DC bus with a calibrated meter. Wait minimum 5 minutes for capacitor discharge. Do not skip this.
  2. Photograph the existing board orientation, wiring harness routing, and any DIP switch positions before touching anything.
  3. Note the firmware revision label on the existing MCB. Request a matching revision when ordering — firmware mismatches between MCB and power board can cause F012 on first boot.
  4. Remove the communication adapter board (if fitted) before extracting the MCB. It is a separate assembly and must not be forced off with the MCB still seated.
  5. Seat the replacement 1336F-MCB-SP2L firmly — the board connector is a friction-fit and an incomplete seat will cause intermittent faults that are extremely difficult to diagnose.
  6. On first power-up, the drive will likely show a F012 parameter checksum fault. This is expected on a new MCB. Perform a factory reset (Parameter 196 = 1 on most 1336 PLUS II configurations) before re-entering your application parameters.
  7. Re-enter all application parameters from your saved backup. If no backup exists, retrieve them from the drive nameplate and the original commissioning sheet. Never assume defaults match your application.
  8. Run the drive unloaded first. Verify speed reference tracking, fault log is clear, and HIM communication is stable before reconnecting the load.

DIP switch note: The 1336F-MCB-SP2L does not use user-accessible DIP switches for address configuration — addressing is handled via parameters. However, verify that any communication adapter boards fitted to the drive have their node address switches set correctly before going live, as the MCB reset may clear adapter configuration in some firmware versions.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 1336 PLUS II platform was engineered for industrial environments that would destroy consumer-grade electronics in days. The MCB reflects that design philosophy. The board’s conformal coating provides protection against condensation, airborne particulates, and mild chemical exposure — standard in food processing, chemical plants, and coastal installations where humidity swings are severe.

Vibration resistance is built into the board’s component mounting and PCB layer stack. In applications like crane drives, compressor skids, and mobile equipment where mechanical shock is constant, the 1336F-MCB-SP2L maintains signal integrity where lesser boards develop cold solder joints and intermittent faults within months.

Thermal performance is equally robust. The MCB is rated to operate across the full ambient temperature range of the 1336 PLUS II drive enclosure. In high-ambient installations — steel mills, foundries, outdoor pump stations in tropical climates — the board’s thermal design prevents the parameter corruption and random resets that plague inferior replacement parts sourced from unverified channels.

Every unit we ship has been stored in climate-controlled conditions. No warehouse humidity damage. No oxidized connectors. No mystery history. You get a board that behaves like new because it has been treated like new from the moment it left the factory.

Global Express Logistics

We operate from Xiamen, China — one of the most logistics-efficient export hubs in Asia. When you confirm your order, the clock starts immediately.

  • Same-day dispatch for orders confirmed before 14:00 CST on business days.
  • DHL Express / FedEx International Priority as standard for all control board shipments — no slow freight, no consolidation delays.
  • Transit times: Southeast Asia 1–2 days | Europe 3–4 days | North America 3–5 days | Middle East 2–4 days | Australia 3–4 days.
  • Full export documentation included: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin. Additional documents (end-user certificate, CITES, bank L/C sets) arranged on request.
  • ESD-safe packaging rated for air freight — anti-static bag, moisture barrier, foam-lined outer carton. The board arrives in the same condition it left.
  • Shipment tracking provided immediately upon dispatch. We do not send tracking numbers 24 hours later — you get it the moment the label is generated.
  • Customs clearance support: HS code documentation and valuation letters provided for markets with strict import controls (EU, India, Brazil).

If your plant is down and air freight cost is a secondary concern, tell us. We will find the fastest routing available and get the board moving.
