Product Overview

1747-OCPCM2 In Stock — Every Hour of Downtime Costs You Money. We Ship Today.

Your SLC 500 Open Controller just lost its programming link. The line is stopped. Maintenance is standing by. You’ve already called three distributors and heard the same answer: 6–8 weeks lead time. That’s not acceptable when your production floor is bleeding $3,000–$15,000 per hour.

The Allen-Bradley 1747-OCPCM2 is the PCMCIA Type II interface card that bridges your programming laptop directly to the SLC 500 Open Controller backplane over DH-485/DF1. Without it, you cannot upload, download, or monitor your ladder logic. There is no workaround that doesn’t require hardware. You need this card — and you need it now.

We stock the 1747-OCPCM2 in Xiamen, China. Orders confirmed before 3:00 PM CST ship same day via DHL Express or FedEx International Priority. Most destinations in Southeast Asia receive delivery within 48–72 hours. Europe and North America: 3–5 business days.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Before you pull the card: Confirm the fault is the 1747-OCPCM2 and not the laptop’s PCMCIA controller or a corrupted RSLinx driver. In RSLinx Classic, go to Communications → Configure Drivers. If the driver shows a red X or “Device Not Found” after a known-good laptop test, the card is the culprit.

Step-by-step hot-swap procedure:

  1. Place the SLC 500 Open Controller CPU in Program mode via the keyswitch before removing the card. Never pull the PCMCIA card while the CPU is in Run mode — this can corrupt the program file in EEPROM-backed memory.
  2. Eject the 1747-OCPCM2 using the PCMCIA slot eject button. Do not force it. If the slot is corroded, apply contact cleaner (DeoxIT D5) and wait 60 seconds before re-seating.
  3. Insert the replacement card firmly until you feel the dual-latch click. The card is keyed — it only inserts one way.
  4. In RSLinx Classic, delete the old driver entry and create a new 1747-OCPCM2 Driver. Select the correct COM port mapping. If Windows assigns a new COM port, update RSLinx accordingly.
  5. Verify the DH-485 node address. The 1747-OCPCM2 defaults to node 1. If your network already has a node 1 device, you must change the card’s node address via RSLinx driver properties before going online — duplicate node addresses cause intermittent communication faults that are notoriously difficult to trace.
  6. Perform a Who Active scan in RSLinx. You should see the CPU appear on the DH-485 network within 10 seconds. If not, check the DH-485 cable termination (120Ω resistor at each end of the network) and verify baud rate matches across all nodes (default: 19.2 kbps).

Common fault codes associated with 1747-OCPCM2 failure:

  • RSLinx Error 0x1E: Driver timeout — card not responding. Replace card or reseat.
  • SLC Fault Code 0071: Communication module hardware fault. Indicates the Open Controller’s internal PCMCIA interface has lost contact with the card.
  • RSLogix “Cannot Go Online”: Most commonly caused by a failed 1747-OCPCM2 or incorrect node address conflict on DH-485.
  • Intermittent dropouts during program upload: Check the PCMCIA slot contacts for oxidation. A card that passes initial enumeration but fails mid-transfer is typically a contact integrity issue, not a firmware problem.

Firmware note: The 1747-OCPCM2 does not have user-upgradeable firmware. If RSLinx reports a firmware mismatch warning, update RSLinx Classic to the latest version — the card itself does not require flashing.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

Industrial environments don’t forgive weak hardware. The 1747-OCPCM2 was engineered for exactly the conditions that destroy consumer-grade electronics.

Vibration: Rated to IEC 60068-2-6 sinusoidal vibration profiles — the same standard used for equipment mounted on compressor skids and conveyor drive panels. The PCMCIA connector uses a dual-latch retention mechanism that maintains electrical contact even under continuous 5–150 Hz vibration cycles. We’ve seen these cards survive years of service on paper mill line-shaft drives where the panel vibrates constantly.

Thermal cycling: The card’s operating range of 0°C to 60°C covers the majority of industrial panel environments. More importantly, the PCB uses conformal coating on production units, which prevents condensation-induced shorts during temperature swings — a common failure mode in outdoor enclosures and cold-storage facilities where panels cycle between ambient and heated states.

Humidity and contamination: The PCMCIA form factor provides inherent protection against airborne particulates when seated in the slot. The card’s gold-plated edge connector resists oxidation in high-humidity environments (up to 95% RH non-condensing per spec). For installations in coastal or chemical processing environments, we recommend inspecting the slot contacts annually and applying a thin layer of contact lubricant.

EMI/RFI immunity: Compliant with IEC 61000-4 series immunity standards. The card’s shielded housing attenuates radiated interference from variable frequency drives, welding equipment, and high-current bus bars — the three most common EMI sources in manufacturing facilities that cause unexplained PLC communication faults.

Global Express Logistics

Our warehouse is located in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China — one of the most logistics-efficient cities in Asia, with direct DHL and FedEx hub access. Here’s exactly what happens after you confirm your order:

  1. Order confirmation (within 30 min): You receive a proforma invoice with part number, quantity, unit price, and shipping cost. No hidden fees.
  2. Same-day packing: Orders confirmed before 3:00 PM CST (UTC+8) are packed and labeled the same business day. Each unit is wrapped in anti-static foam, placed in a rigid cardboard box, and sealed with tamper-evident tape.
  3. Export documentation: We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin. For orders requiring an ECCN classification or import permits, notify us at order time — we handle the paperwork.
  4. Carrier handoff: DHL Express or FedEx International Priority pickup occurs daily at 5:00 PM CST. You receive a tracking number within 2 hours of pickup.
  5. Estimated transit times: Southeast Asia 1–2 days | Australia/Japan/Korea 2–3 days | Europe 3–4 days | North America 3–5 days | Middle East/Africa 4–6 days.
  6. Customs clearance support: We provide HS code documentation (8537.10) and can issue a low-value declaration for shipments qualifying under destination country de minimis thresholds to accelerate clearance.

If your plant is in a remote location or requires a specific freight forwarder, contact us before ordering. We’ve shipped to offshore platforms, mine sites, and island facilities — logistics complexity is not a problem we walk away from.
