Bently Nevada 330104-00-08-05-02-05 — Stop the Clock on Your Unplanned Shutdown
Every hour a turbine or compressor sits idle costs real money — production losses, contractual penalties, and the kind of pressure that follows a site manager into the weekend. The Bently Nevada 330104-00-08-05-02-05 is a 3300 XL 8mm eddy-current proximity probe, and we have it on the shelf right now. No lead-time negotiation, no factory back-order queue. Place your order before cut-off and it moves today.
This is the most widely deployed probe in the 3300 XL platform — the one that shows up in API 670-compliant machinery protection loops on steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and high-speed pumps across every major process industry. If your DCS is throwing a Probe Fault or Not OK alarm and the Proximitor output has railed to −24 V, this is the part you need.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
Symptom: Proximitor output stuck at −24 V (or open-circuit alarm on monitor)
This is the classic probe-open fault. Before condemning the probe, check the extension cable connector at the Proximitor input — corrosion on the BNC center pin is a frequent culprit in humid environments. If resistance from probe tip to Proximitor input exceeds ~8 Ω, the cable or probe coil is open. Replace the probe-cable assembly as a matched set.
Symptom: Output stuck at −1 V (short-circuit / gap too small)
Verify the probe gap with a feeler gauge or by slowly backing the probe out while watching the Proximitor output. Target gap for the 3300 XL 8mm system is typically 1.0 mm (−10 VDC output). If output recovers as you increase gap, the probe is functional — check for shaft rub or bearing collapse.
Replacement procedure (field-safe steps):
- Confirm the machine is at rest and the 3500 rack channel is bypassed or the monitor is in Bypass mode to prevent spurious trips during probe swap.
- Disconnect the extension cable from the Proximitor driver. Cap the Proximitor input with a 50 Ω terminator to prevent false alarms on adjacent channels sharing the same monitor card.
- Remove the probe from its holder. Note the thread engagement depth — typically 3–5 turns — and replicate it on the new probe to maintain gap.
- Install the 330104-00-08-05-02-05. Set gap to 1.0 mm (±0.1 mm) using a non-ferrous feeler gauge. Verify Proximitor output reads −10 VDC ±0.5 V at this gap.
- Reconnect the extension cable. Confirm the monitor channel clears the Not OK status and vibration readings are within baseline. Remove bypass.
- Document the as-found and as-left gap values in your maintenance record. API 670 requires this for auditable machinery protection loops.
Firmware / driver compatibility note: The 330104-00-08-05-02-05 is calibrated exclusively for the 3300 XL Proximitor driver. Do not substitute into a legacy 3300 (non-XL) driver — the scale factor will be incorrect and the monitor will report false vibration amplitudes. Verify your driver label reads 3300 XL 8mm before installation.
Non-standard target materials: If your shaft is 316 stainless, Inconel, or titanium, the 7.87 V/mm scale factor does not apply. A material correction factor must be determined using the Bently Nevada target material correction procedure. Contact us for application support.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The 3300 XL 8mm probe is not a laboratory instrument — it was designed to live inside bearing housings where temperatures swing from ambient cold-start to 177 °C at full load, where lube-oil mist coats every surface, and where the machine itself generates broadband vibration that would destroy a conventional sensor within weeks.
The probe body is machined from stainless steel with a hermetically sealed coil assembly. The IP67 rating means it survives direct wash-down and temporary immersion — relevant during turbine water-washing cycles. The integral cable jacket is rated for continuous oil and chemical exposure. Connector contacts are gold-plated to resist the galvanic corrosion that kills sensors in coastal and offshore installations.
Bently Nevada subjects each production batch to thermal cycling across the full −35 °C to +177 °C range, vibration endurance testing per IEC 60068-2-6, and EMC screening to confirm the probe does not pick up interference from adjacent VFDs or high-current bus bars. The result is a sensor that routinely runs for 5–8 years between planned replacements in well-maintained machinery protection systems.
Units in our Xiamen warehouse are stored in climate-controlled, ESD-safe racking. Cable jackets are inspected for cracking before dispatch. Every probe ships with its original Bently Nevada packaging and label intact — no repackaging, no grey-market handling.
Global Express Logistics
Our dispatch hub is in Xiamen, China — one of the country’s primary export ports with direct DHL Express and FedEx Priority lanes to every major industrial region. Here is what the timeline looks like from the moment you confirm your order:
