Product Overview

Bosch DSS 1.3 Control Card: Stop the Clock on Your Downtime — Ship Today from Xiamen

Your servo drive is dead. The axis won’t home. The line is stopped. Every minute you’re standing in front of that cabinet is money bleeding out of the operation. The Bosch DSS 1.3 Control Card is the exact component that brings the DSS Series drive back to life — and we have it on the shelf, packed, and ready to move via DHL Express or FedEx International Priority within hours of your order confirmation.

The DSS 1.3 is the intelligence core of the Bosch DSS Series servo drive. It handles closed-loop position and velocity feedback, real-time torque regulation, and motion command arbitration between the CNC controller and the power stage. When this card fails — whether from a voltage spike, capacitor aging, or firmware corruption — the drive throws a fault and locks out completely. There is no workaround. The card must be replaced.

We’ve shipped this part to automotive stamping plants in Germany, packaging lines in Thailand, and CNC shops in Mexico. The failure mode is always the same. The urgency is always the same. Our job is to cut your recovery time from weeks to days.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Common fault codes that point directly to a failed DSS 1.3 card:

  • F-xx / E-xx drive fault at power-up — If the drive faults immediately on enable with no load connected and no motor feedback error, the control card is the first suspect. Swap the card before condemning the power stage.
  • Encoder feedback loss (resolver signal absent) — The DSS 1.3 handles resolver-to-digital conversion on-board. A failed RDC circuit on the card produces a feedback loss fault even with a known-good motor and cable. Verify cable continuity first; if clean, the card is the culprit.
  • Velocity loop instability / oscillation at standstill — Corrupted gain parameters stored in the card’s EEPROM can cause this. A replacement card will restore factory defaults; re-tune Kp/Ki velocity loop gains after installation.
  • Drive powers up but axis refuses to enable — Check the enable signal path first (hardware enable input, STO circuit). If those are confirmed healthy, a failed gate-drive interface on the DSS 1.3 card will block the enable command from reaching the power stage.
  • Intermittent faults that clear on power cycle — Classic sign of a failing electrolytic capacitor on the control card. These faults worsen with temperature. Replace the card before it causes a hard failure mid-cycle.

Replacement procedure — field notes:

  • De-energize the drive fully. Wait a minimum of 5 minutes for DC bus capacitors to discharge. Verify with a meter before touching the power stage. The DSS 1.3 card sits in the control section, but the cabinet is live until the bus is bled down.
  • Note the position of any DIP switches or jumpers on the original card before removal. The DSS 1.3 may carry address or termination settings depending on the drive’s position in the axis chain. Photograph the board before pulling it.
  • The card uses a card-edge connector. Extract with even, straight pressure — do not rock side to side. Inspect the connector fingers on the replacement card for oxidation before seating.
  • After installation, perform a drive parameter restore from your CNC backup or re-enter axis parameters manually. The replacement card ships with factory defaults; your application-specific tuning data is not retained.
  • On first enable after replacement, command a slow jog at 5–10% speed before running full-speed cycles. Verify encoder feedback counts are incrementing correctly in the drive’s diagnostic display.
  • If the drive was previously running with a customized firmware version, confirm the replacement card’s firmware revision matches. Mismatched firmware between the control card and power stage firmware can cause unexpected behavior. Contact us if you need a specific firmware-matched unit.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The Bosch DSS Series was designed for continuous-duty industrial environments — not climate-controlled server rooms. The DSS 1.3 control card reflects that design philosophy. The PCB uses conformal coating on critical signal traces to resist condensation and airborne contaminants common in foundry, food processing, and coastal manufacturing environments. Component selection prioritizes extended-temperature-range parts rated beyond the nominal operating envelope, providing margin against thermal excursions during summer shutdowns or inadequate cabinet cooling.

Vibration resistance is built into the card’s mechanical mounting. The card-edge connector provides a large contact surface area that maintains electrical integrity under the continuous low-frequency vibration typical of press lines and compressor rooms. We’ve seen DSS 1.3 cards pulled from presses running 24/7 for over a decade with no failure — and we’ve seen cards fail in 18 months in poorly ventilated cabinets. The card is robust; the installation environment determines longevity.

Every unit we ship has been visually inspected under magnification for PCB damage, solder joint cracking, and component-level anomalies. Tested surplus units are bench-verified in a compatible drive before dispatch. We do not ship untested pulls. If a unit doesn’t pass our bench check, it doesn’t leave the warehouse.

Global Express Logistics

Our dispatch warehouse is located in Xiamen, Fujian, China — a major export hub with direct DHL Express and FedEx International Priority service to over 220 countries. Here’s how the logistics chain works from the moment you confirm your order:

  • Order confirmation → same-day packing: Orders confirmed before 15:00 CST are packed and labeled the same business day. ESD-safe inner packaging, foam-lined outer carton, and fragile handling labels are standard.
  • Export documentation: Commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin are prepared in parallel with packing. HS code 8537.10 is pre-declared for customs clearance efficiency. We have experience with import requirements in the EU, US, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
  • Carrier selection: DHL Express Worldwide is our default for most destinations — typically 2–4 business days to Europe, 3–5 days to the Americas, and 1–3 days to Southeast Asia. FedEx International Priority is available on request. For time-critical shipments, we can arrange same-day courier pickup.
  • Tracking: Tracking number is sent to your email within 2 hours of carrier pickup. We monitor shipments proactively and flag any customs holds immediately.
  • Customs clearance support: We provide all documentation required for customs clearance. For EU imports, EORI number fields are pre-filled. For US imports, we comply with CBP entry requirements. If your customs broker needs additional documentation, we respond within the same business day.

We understand that a part sitting in customs is as useless as a part sitting on a shelf in our warehouse. We’ve optimized every step of the export process to get the DSS 1.3 into your hands — and into your cabinet — as fast as physically possible.
