Product Overview

CYBELEC S-DNC-61-G16 / S-DNC-60/A: Stop the Clock on Your Press Brake Downtime

Your press brake is down. The DNC screen is dead — blank, frozen, or throwing a bus fault. Every hour that bending cell sits idle is costing you: missed shipments, idle operators, penalty clauses. You don’t need a lecture on Swiss engineering heritage right now. You need the part, verified, boxed, and moving toward your dock today.

We stock the CYBELEC S-DNC-61-G16 / S-DNC-60/A CNC screen controller in Xiamen. Not on order. Not inbound. In the warehouse. DHL Express label can be printed within hours of payment confirmation. That’s the only thing that matters when your production schedule is bleeding out.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Fault Diagnosis Before You Pull the Unit

Before condemning the S-DNC-61-G16 / S-DNC-60/A screen assembly, run through this field checklist. Swapping the wrong component wastes time you don’t have.

  • Blank screen on power-up: Check 24 VDC supply at the screen controller connector first. A failed PSU inside the control cabinet is a common misdiagnosis. Measure at the harness, not at the breaker.
  • “BUS FAULT” or “COMM ERROR” on display: This almost always points to the internal CYBELEC bus between the screen controller and the main CPU board. Reseat the ribbon/bus connector on both ends. If the fault persists after reseating, the screen controller’s bus interface IC has failed — replace the unit.
  • Frozen display / partial screen corruption: Indicates GPU or display driver failure within the G16 graphic module. Not repairable in the field. Unit replacement is the only path.
  • Keypad inputs not registering: Membrane keypad degradation is the #1 wear failure on DNC-60/61 screens in high-cycle environments. If the display is functional but keys are dead or intermittent, the screen controller assembly (which integrates the keypad PCB) must be replaced as a unit.
  • Intermittent resets during bending cycle: Check for EMI coupling from servo drives. Verify cable shielding continuity on the screen harness. If shielding is intact and resets persist, internal power regulation within the screen controller is failing.

Replacement Procedure — Field Notes

  1. Parameter backup first, always. Machine parameters (bend angles, back gauge offsets, crowning tables) reside on the main CPU board, not the screen controller. However, some DNC-61 configurations store display preferences and operator profiles locally. Export via the DNC service menu before powering down.
  2. Label every connector before disconnection. The DNC-60/61 screen harness typically includes: 24 VDC power, internal bus (ribbon or D-sub), and optional external I/O for pendant-mounted units. Photograph the connector layout before removal.
  3. No address switches on this unit. Unlike I/O modules in distributed architectures, the S-DNC-61-G16 / S-DNC-60/A does not require DIP switch addressing. It communicates as a fixed node on the CYBELEC proprietary bus. No configuration required post-installation.
  4. Firmware matching. The G16 screen controller firmware must be compatible with your main CPU board revision. In most field replacements, the firmware on the replacement unit is current and compatible. If you encounter a “VERSION MISMATCH” fault after installation, contact us — we can advise on firmware alignment without requiring an OEM service call.
  5. Power-on verification sequence: Apply 24 VDC. The CYBELEC boot screen should appear within 8–12 seconds. If the display shows the DNC home screen and accepts keypad input, the replacement is successful. Run a dry-cycle (no material) bend program to verify axis command routing before returning to production.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

Press brake environments are not kind to electronics. Hydraulic mist, metal dust, vibration from high-tonnage ram strokes, and temperature swings between cold morning startups and afternoon production heat — the S-DNC-61-G16 / S-DNC-60/A was designed for exactly this.

The IP54-rated front panel blocks particulate ingress and splash from coolant and hydraulic fluid. The internal PCB assembly uses conformal coating on critical signal traces, providing a moisture barrier that prevents the creep corrosion that kills unprotected boards in humid fabrication shops. Connector housings are latched and keyed — vibration from repeated ram cycling does not work connections loose over time.

Thermal management is passive and deliberate. The unit operates continuously at ambient temperatures up to 55°C without derating. In practice, this covers the vast majority of press brake installations worldwide, including those in non-air-conditioned fabrication halls in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Southern Europe where summer ambient temperatures routinely exceed 40°C.

EMI hardening is built into the bus interface circuitry. Servo drives and hydraulic valve solenoids generate significant conducted and radiated noise. The DNC screen controller’s bus receiver is designed with differential signaling and common-mode rejection to maintain data integrity in this environment. This is why CYBELEC DNC systems have a reputation for stability in installations where competing CNC platforms exhibit random faults.

Units we ship have been stored in climate-controlled conditions and inspected for connector oxidation, PCB delamination, and display panel integrity before dispatch. We do not ship shelf-aged stock without inspection.
