Common Fault Indicators

• Module LED solid red / no green heartbeat: Internal power rail failure or backplane communication loss. Reseat first — if fault persists after two reseats, the module is dead. Do not waste time on software diagnostics.
• Intermittent channel dropouts (Bad Input quality in DeltaV Operate): Most commonly caused by corroded terminal block contacts or a failing A/D converter on that channel. Swap the module; do not chase field wiring until you have ruled out the card.

Replacement Procedure — Field Checklist

• Note the firmware revision on the outgoing module label (e.g., FW 3.x). The SP6401 supports auto-download of configuration from the DeltaV database on insertion — verify your DeltaV version supports this for the installed FW baseline.
