Fault Pattern 1 — “Module Not Responding” in Experion Station
This alarm almost always means one of two things: loss of FTE communication to the CIOM-A carrier, or a failed internal ASIC on the DC-TDOB01 itself. Start by reseating the module firmly on the carrier and waiting 30 seconds for the C300 to re-enumerate the I/O link. If the alarm clears, you had a contact issue — inspect the backplane connector for corrosion or debris. If it persists, the module is dead. Order the replacement.
Fault Pattern 2 — Partial Channel Failure (e.g., CH9–CH16 dead, CH1–CH8 active)
This split-bank failure pattern points directly to an internal output driver IC failure. The DC-TDOB01 uses separate driver ICs for the upper and lower channel banks. Fault Pattern 3 — All Channels Show OFF Despite ON Command
Before condemning the module, check the 24 VDC field power supply feeding the CIOM-A carrier. Fault Pattern 4 — “Hardware Mismatch” After Swap
This fault appears when the replacement module’s firmware revision is incompatible with the Experion R-release running on the system. Check the firmware label on the replacement unit against the compatibility matrix in the Experion PKS I/O Module Installation Guide (document EP-CIOM-A). Replacement Procedure — What the Manual Doesn’t Emphasize:
