Symptom: Entire ControlEdge rack goes dark — no CPU heartbeat, no I/O response.
First suspect: FC-PSU-UNI2450. Before condemning the CPU or backplane, measure the 24 VDC bus at the backplane connector with a calibrated DMM. If you read below 22 VDC or see ripple exceeding 200 mV p-p, the PSU is failing under load. Do not run the rack on a degraded PSU — undervoltage causes EEPROM write errors in the CPU module that survive a power cycle.

Fault Code Reference (ControlEdge Diagnostics):

• PSU FAIL / PWR FAULT LED solid red: Internal OCP or OVP trip. Remove load modules one by one to isolate a shorted I/O card before replacing the PSU.
• PWR GOOD signal absent (CPU reports Power Supply Fault in system log): PSU has not reached regulation — replace FC-PSU-UNI2450.
• Intermittent rack resets under load: Degraded bulk capacitors. Occurs more frequently above 45°C ambient. Measure output under full I/O load — sag below 22.8 VDC means immediate replacement.

Replacement Procedure — Field Checklist:
