Replacing a T8403C in a live TMR system is not the same as swapping a standard I/O card. Here is what you need to know before you pull the module:

1. Confirm the fault is the expander, not the chassis backplane. Before condemning the T8403C, check the Trusted Workbench diagnostics for backplane communication errors. A corrupted backplane segment can mimic expander failure. Look for fault codes in the range of 0x4xxx (expander bus faults) versus 0x2xxx (module-level faults).

2. Verify firmware revision compatibility. The T8403C has multiple hardware revisions (Rev A, B, C). The suffix “C” in T8403C denotes the third hardware revision. Mixing revisions within the same expander chassis is not supported. Check the chassis label and the existing module revision sticker before ordering.
