Product Overview

KFG LEVEL MUL-D2: Stop the Clock on Your Downtime — Ship Today from Xiamen

Every hour a level measurement loop stays dead costs real money. A failed potentiometric transducer in a separator, storage tank, or reactor vessel doesn’t just trigger an alarm — it forces a manual workaround, pulls operators off other tasks, and puts your process safety case under pressure. If you’re reading this page, you already know the clock is running. The KFG LEVEL MUL-D2 is on the shelf. We ship same-day from Xiamen. That’s the only thing that matters right now.

The MUL-D2 is a multi-application potentiometric level transducer built for continuous measurement in demanding process environments. It delivers a stable, linear analog output that integrates directly into existing DCS and PLC analog input loops — no signal conditioning rework, no firmware headaches, no re-engineering. Swap it in, verify zero and span, and get your loop back online. That’s the job.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Ten years of field work teaches you that most MUL-D2 failures fall into three categories. Knowing which one you’re dealing with before you pull the unit saves time on the bench and prevents a repeat failure after reinstallation.

1. Wiper Track Wear (Most Common)
The resistive wiper is the highest-wear element in any potentiometric transducer. Symptoms: output signal becomes noisy or jumps erratically at specific positions in the travel range, but reads correctly at others. Confirm with a multimeter across the output terminals while manually moving the float arm through its full stroke. If resistance is non-linear or shows dead spots, the track is worn. No field repair — replace the unit.

2. Mechanical Binding / Float Arm Seizure
In tanks handling viscous media, wax-bearing crude, or slurry, the float arm pivot can seize. The transducer output will read a fixed value regardless of actual level. Before condemning the electronics, disconnect the arm and check for free mechanical movement. If the pivot is seized, clean and free it first — a new transducer installed into a seized mechanism will fail within weeks.

3. Signal Loop Wiring Faults
Potentiometric transducers are sensitive to ground loops and shield termination errors. After installing the MUL-D2 replacement, verify: (a) cable shield is grounded at one end only — typically the control room end; (b) no parallel ground paths exist through the process connection; (c) loop supply voltage is within the specified range. A floating shield in a high-EMI environment will produce a noisy, unstable signal that mimics a faulty transducer.

Replacement Checklist:

  • Isolate the measurement point and depressurize / drain as required by your site MOC procedure.
  • Record the existing zero and span calibration values from the DCS faceplate before disconnecting.
  • Photograph the existing wiring terminations before removal — terminal numbering varies between revisions.
  • Install MUL-D2, torque process connection to specification, restore wiring per original termination photo.
  • Perform a wet calibration with known reference level if process conditions allow, or a dry bench calibration against the recorded zero/span values.
  • Confirm loop current at DCS AI card: 4 mA at low level, 20 mA at high level (or reverse for fail-safe configuration).
  • Release to service and monitor for 30 minutes before closing the work order.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The MUL-D2 is not a lab instrument. It is built for the kind of environments where instrumentation goes to age hard: offshore platforms with constant salt-spray vibration, petrochemical plants where ambient temperatures swing 40°C between day and night, and water treatment facilities where humidity sits at 95% year-round.

The housing construction uses materials selected for corrosion resistance in humid and chemically aggressive atmospheres. Internal components are sealed against ingress, protecting the resistive element and wiper assembly from the condensation cycles that kill lesser sensors. The mechanical design tolerates the low-frequency vibration characteristic of pump-driven process systems without inducing fatigue failures at the float arm pivot — a failure mode that plagues cheaper alternatives within 12–18 months of installation.

Thermal performance is engineered for the full range of industrial ambient conditions. The resistive element maintains calibration stability across temperature excursions that would cause drift in sensors with inferior substrate materials. For installations in direct sunlight or near heat sources, standard sun shields and thermal lagging practices apply — the MUL-D2 will hold its calibration if you protect it from radiant heat the same way you would any precision analog instrument.

Vibration immunity is validated against the mechanical shock and continuous vibration profiles typical of rotating equipment installations. If your tank is adjacent to a pump skid or compressor package, the MUL-D2 will not develop intermittent faults from structure-borne vibration — a common complaint with potentiometric sensors that use inferior wiper spring designs.

Global Express Logistics

Stock is held at our Xiamen warehouse, positioned for rapid export to any destination worldwide. Xiamen is a major international port city with direct DHL and FedEx express lanes to Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the Americas. This is not a drop-ship arrangement — the unit is physically in our facility, inspected, and ready to pack the moment your order is confirmed.

Standard Express Timeline (DHL / FedEx Priority):

  • Southeast Asia (SG, MY, TH, ID, VN): 2–3 business days
  • Middle East (AE, SA, QA, KW): 3–4 business days
  • Europe (DE, NL, GB, FR, IT): 4–5 business days
  • North America (US, CA): 4–6 business days
  • Australia / New Zealand: 3–5 business days

For urgent plant shutdowns, we can arrange same-day dispatch on orders confirmed before 14:00 CST. Export documentation — commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin — is prepared in parallel with packing to eliminate customs clearance delays. HS code classification is handled by our logistics team; we have shipped industrial instrumentation to over 40 countries and understand the documentation requirements for each major market.

Freight insurance is available and recommended for high-value single-unit shipments. All units are packed in anti-static, shock-absorbing packaging with internal bracing to protect the float arm assembly and process connection threads during transit. Tracking numbers are issued within 2 hours of dispatch.
