AL.10 / AL.16 — Undervoltage / Overvoltage: Before condemning the amplifier, check your main circuit power supply. A sagging 200VAC rail or a failing inrush limiter will trigger these alarms on a perfectly good drive. Measure L1/L2/L3 under load. If voltage is solid and the alarm persists after a power cycle, the internal DC bus capacitors are likely degraded — the amplifier needs replacement.
AL.32 — Overcurrent: This is the most common failure mode on MR-J3-70B units running high-inertia loads. It can be caused by a shorted motor winding, a damaged encoder cable (especially the shield), or a failed IGBT inside the amplifier. Disconnect the motor and power up the drive alone — if AL.32 clears, the fault is in the motor or cable. If it persists with no motor connected, the amplifier is gone.
AL.37 — Parameter Error: Triggered after a firmware mismatch or corrupted EEPROM. You must perform a home position return (ZRN) on all affected axes before resuming automatic operation. Do not attempt to jog the axis before homing — on some machine configurations this can cause a mechanical crash.
Firmware Matching: MR-J3-70B firmware is embedded and not field-upgradeable on most units. If your system uses a Q172DCPU or Q173DCPU motion controller, verify the amplifier firmware version is compatible with your controller’s SV13/SV22 software version.
