ABB FEIP-21 3AXD50000192793 — Stop the Clock on Your ACS880 Downtime
Every minute an ACS880 drive sits offline without its EtherNet/IP link, your production line is bleeding money. A failed FEIP-21 severs the entire communication chain between your PLC and the drive — speed references drop, status words go dark, and your SCADA screen fills with alarms. We stock the ABB FEIP-21 (3AXD50000192793) in Xiamen and ship globally via DHL/FedEx Express. From the moment you confirm the order, our logistics team moves. No waiting on ABB lead times. No factory allocation queues. Just the part, on a plane, to your site.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
Fault Scenario 1 — Drive shows fault code 7081 (Fieldbus communication loss)
This is the most common trigger for an emergency FEIP-21 replacement. The ACS880 raises 7081 when the EtherNet/IP connection timeout expires. Before condemning the module, rule out: (a) broken RJ-45 connector on the cable side, (b) managed switch port set to wrong VLAN, (c) PLC scanner connection path pointing to wrong IP. If the fault persists after network checks, swap the FEIP-21.
Fault Scenario 2 — Module LEDs: MS = solid red, NS = off
Solid red on the Module Status LED with no Network Status activity means the FEIP-21 has failed its internal self-test. Power-cycle the drive first. If the LED pattern repeats, the module is defective — replace immediately. Do not attempt firmware reflash on a module showing this pattern; it will not recover.
Fault Scenario 3 — NS LED flashing green, but PLC shows no I/O connection
Flashing green NS = module is online but no CIP connection established. Check: (1) EDS file version in Studio 5000 matches module firmware, (2) connection path in the PLC program uses the correct IP address, (3) RPI (Requested Packet Interval) is not set below 5 ms — the FEIP-21 minimum is 5 ms.
Replacement Procedure (field-tested, 15-minute swap):
- Isolate the ACS880 drive from mains supply. Wait for DC bus discharge — minimum 5 minutes, verify with a multimeter across DC+ and DC-.
- Disconnect both RJ-45 Ethernet cables from the FEIP-21. Label them Port 1 and Port 2 before removal.
- Press the module release tab and slide the FEIP-21 straight out of the option slot. No tools required.
- Inspect the option slot connector on the drive for bent pins or debris before inserting the replacement unit.
- Slide the new FEIP-21 firmly into the slot until the latch clicks. Do not force — if resistance is felt, realign and retry.
- Reconnect Ethernet cables in the same port order. Restore mains power.
- On the ACS880 panel, navigate to Parameter Group 51 (EtherNet/IP). Verify Par. 51.01 (IP address), 51.02 (subnet mask), 51.03 (gateway). If the drive was using DHCP, the IP may have changed — update the PLC scanner accordingly.
- Check Par. 50.01 (FBA A type) — it should auto-detect as FEIP-21 after power-up. If it shows a different value, perform a drive parameter restore from backup or manually set Par. 50.01 = FEIP-21.
- Trigger a PLC connection from Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000. Confirm NS LED goes solid green and I/O data is flowing.
- Monitor fault log for 7081 recurrence over the next 30 minutes of production. If clear, the replacement is complete.
Configuration Note — Slot Selection: The FEIP-21 can occupy option slot 1 or slot 2 on the ACS880. The slot determines the parameter group used (Group 51 for slot 1, Group 54 for slot 2). If the failed module was in slot 2, ensure the replacement goes into the same slot — otherwise the PLC program’s parameter mapping will be misaligned.
Firmware Compatibility: ABB ACS880 standard application firmware ≥ 2.00 is required for full FEIP-21 feature support including DLR. Drives running firmware below this threshold may not enumerate the module correctly. Use Drive Composer Pro to check firmware version before installation.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The FEIP-21 is not a fragile office-grade network card. ABB designed it to survive the same punishment as the ACS880 drive itself. The PCB is conformally coated to resist condensation and airborne contaminants — a real-world requirement in paper mills, chemical plants, and coastal installations where humidity swings are extreme. The option slot connector is a high-cycle-rated edge connector, not a consumer-grade socket; it maintains contact integrity through repeated thermal expansion cycles in environments where ambient temperature swings 30 °C between day and night shifts.
Vibration resistance meets IEC 60068-2-6 (sinusoidal) and IEC 60068-2-64 (random) test profiles — the same standards applied to the drive chassis. In mining and heavy press applications where floor vibration is continuous, the FEIP-21 does not develop intermittent contact faults that plague generic third-party adapters. The RJ-45 ports use a locking tab design; cables do not self-eject under vibration. EMC shielding on the module meets IEC 61800-3 Category C2, keeping the EtherNet/IP link stable even when installed adjacent to large motor drives generating significant conducted and radiated noise.
Global Express Logistics
Our warehouse is located in Xiamen, China — a major international freight hub with direct DHL and FedEx Express connections to Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Australia. Standard export documentation (commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin) is prepared same day. For urgent shipments, we use DHL Express Worldwide or FedEx International Priority — both services offer door-to-door transit times of 2–5 business days to most destinations.
Every FEIP-21 ships in anti-static ESD packaging with a humidity indicator card. The outer carton is double-walled and labeled with fragile/electronic handling instructions. Tracking numbers are sent within 2 hours of dispatch. For sites in the EU, we can declare under the correct HS code (8537.10) with accurate valuation to avoid customs clearance delays. For North American imports, we provide USMCA/CUSMA documentation where applicable. If your procurement team requires a proforma invoice before payment, we issue it within 30 minutes of inquiry.
