330104-00-18-10-01-CN: Stop the Clock on Your Unplanned Shutdown
Every hour your turbine, compressor, or critical rotating machine sits idle costs real money — production losses, contractual penalties, idle labor. When your Bently Nevada proximity transducer fails, you don’t have time for a 6-week OEM lead time. The 330104-00-18-10-01-CN is in stock at our Xiamen warehouse. We ship same day. That’s the only number that matters right now.
This is the 18mm eddy-current probe from Bently Nevada’s 3300 XL Proximity Transducer System — the backbone of API 670-compliant machinery protection on gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and large induction motors worldwide. The -CN configuration meets Chinese national procurement and documentation standards. Drop-in replacement for your existing 3300 XL installation. No Proximitor® recalibration required when replacing like-for-like.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
After ten years of field work, these are the failure modes and swap pitfalls I see most often with the 330104 series:
Common Fault Signatures:
- OK LED off / Fault LED solid on Proximitor®: 90% of the time this is a probe tip crack or cable break at the probe body junction — the most mechanically stressed point. Flex the cable near the probe body while watching the gap voltage. If it flickers, the probe is done.
- Gap voltage out of range (not -10V to -18V at nominal gap): Check the extension cable first. A corroded BNC connector or a pinched cable in a conduit fitting will shift the apparent gap voltage and trigger false vibration alarms before the probe fully fails.
- Intermittent high vibration readings with no mechanical cause: Probe tip contamination — oil varnish or metallic debris on the tip face. Clean with isopropyl alcohol. If readings don’t stabilize, the tip coating is compromised and the probe needs replacement.
- System 1® showing Transducer Not OK after probe swap: Verify the replacement probe’s scale factor matches the Proximitor® configuration. The 3300 XL 8mm Proximitor® is calibrated for 7.87 V/mm. If someone previously installed a non-standard probe, the Proximitor® may have been reconfigured — check the DIP switch settings on the Proximitor® card.
Replacement Procedure — Field Checklist:
- Record the existing gap voltage before removal (target: -10.0V to -12.0V at nominal operating gap for most shaft targets).
- De-energize the Proximitor® driver circuit before disconnecting the probe cable — hot-swapping can spike the input and damage the Proximitor® input stage.
- Inspect the probe mounting boss for thread damage. The 330104 uses M18x1.5 threads — cross-threading is common when replacing under time pressure. Use a thread chaser before installing the new probe.
- Set the new probe gap to the value recorded in step 1. Use a non-ferromagnetic feeler gauge. Do not use a steel ruler.
- After energizing, verify gap voltage is within ±0.5V of the pre-removal value before returning the machine to service.
- No firmware update or Proximitor® recalibration is required for a like-for-like 330104-00-18-10-01-CN swap.
- Log the replacement in your machinery protection system with the new probe serial number for traceability.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The 3300 XL probe body is machined from 316 stainless steel with a hermetically sealed sensing tip. That construction choice is deliberate — it’s what allows this probe to survive environments that destroy lesser sensors within months.
In petrochemical service, the probe tip is continuously exposed to process gas condensate, H2S-laden atmospheres, and lubricating oil at elevated temperatures. The hermetic seal prevents ingress that would shift the eddy-current field and corrupt measurements. In power generation, the probe sits adjacent to turbine casings where radiant heat can push ambient temperatures well above 150°C during peak load — the 177°C rating is not a marketing number, it’s a tested limit derived from real turbine installation data.
Vibration immunity is equally critical. Rotating machinery generates broadband mechanical vibration that propagates through the machine casing and into the probe mounting structure. The 330104’s rigid stainless body and short probe-to-cable transition minimize resonance effects that can introduce measurement noise at frequencies that overlap with actual shaft vibration signals. In offshore and marine installations, the combination of salt spray, humidity cycling, and constant low-frequency hull vibration represents the harshest possible environment for any electronic sensor — the 3300 XL system’s track record in offshore compressor trains speaks for itself.
Every unit we ship from Xiamen is inspected for physical integrity, connector condition, and cable jacket continuity before packaging. We do not ship units with cosmetic damage to probe tips or cable jackets, because in eddy-current sensing, cosmetic damage is functional damage.
Global Express Logistics
Our Xiamen warehouse is 40 minutes from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, a major DHL and FedEx hub for southern China. That geography is not an accident — it’s why we can offer same-day dispatch on in-stock items for orders confirmed before 14:00 CST.
