Product Overview

330876-02-50-00-00 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime: Ship Today from Xiamen

Every minute a turbine, compressor, or critical rotating machine sits idle, your operation bleeds money. The Bently Nevada 330876-02-50-00-00 8mm proximity probe is the exact OEM component your 3300 XL transducer system needs — and we have it on the shelf right now. No lead-time games, no substitution risk. We pull, test, pack, and hand to DHL or FedEx the same business day you confirm the order. That is the only promise that matters when your plant is down.

This is not a listing page. This is a field engineer’s rapid-response toolkit. Read the datasheet, check the fault codes, confirm your configuration, and hit the contact button. We have done this hundreds of times for petrochemical plants, power stations, and offshore platforms across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. We know what you need and we know how fast you need it.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

After ten years of field work, the failure patterns on 3300 XL proximity probes are predictable. Here is what you are most likely dealing with and how to confirm it before you order:

Fault 1 — Gap Voltage Out of Range (monitor shows Not OK or Danger)
Check the DC bias voltage at the driver output. Nominal is –10.5 VDC at a 1.0 mm air gap. If you are reading –24 VDC (open circuit) or 0 VDC (short), the probe cable is broken — usually at the probe tip thread or at the connector junction. This is the single most common failure mode on machines with high vibration or thermal cycling. Replace the probe assembly; the cable is not field-repairable.

Fault 2 — Intermittent Not OK at Startup
Nine times out of ten this is a loose TNC connector at the driver input. Torque to 1.0 N·m. If the fault persists after re-torquing, swap the extension cable first (cheaper) before condemning the probe. Extension cables fail at the junction box gland more often than the probe itself fails.

Fault 3 — Sensitivity Drift (vibration readings creep high or low over weeks)
Eddy-current probes do not drift on their own. If your scale factor has shifted, suspect target surface condition — corrosion pitting, chrome plating wear, or a shaft repair weld that changed the material permeability. Pull the probe, clean the tip, and verify gap voltage against a known-good steel target. If the probe reads correctly on a test block but not on the shaft, the problem is the shaft, not the probe.

Replacement Procedure — Key Configuration Checks:

  • Gap setting: Install the new probe and set the air gap to 1.0 mm (±0.05 mm). Verify bias voltage reads –10.5 VDC ±0.5 V at the driver output before energizing the monitor.
  • Driver matching: The 330876-02-50-00-00 requires the 3300 XL 8mm driver (330180-91-00). Do not mix with 5mm drivers (330180-51-00) — sensitivity will be wrong and the monitor will not alarm correctly.
  • Total cable length: Probe cable (5 m) plus any extension cable must not exceed 9 m total. Exceeding this shifts the scale factor outside calibration limits.
  • Target material correction: If your shaft is not standard 4140 steel, apply the Bently Nevada scale factor correction table (Form 141221-01). Stainless steel shafts typically require a –15% correction factor.
  • Monitor channel reset: After probe swap, perform a Not OK reset on the 3500 monitor channel and allow 15 minutes for thermal stabilization before logging the new baseline gap voltage.
  • ATEX installations: Verify the replacement probe carries the same Ex ia IIC T6 marking as the original. Do not install a standard probe in a Zone 1 classified area without the correct IS barrier (e.g., MTL 787+).

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 330876-02-50-00-00 is not designed for a clean lab. It is designed for the places where equipment actually fails — steam turbine bearing pedestals running at 150 °C, offshore compressor decks soaked in salt spray, and petrochemical units where the ambient is a permanent cocktail of hydrocarbon vapor and humidity. Bently Nevada engineered the 3300 XL probe body from 316 stainless steel with a PEEK tip insert that resists chemical attack and thermal shock. The armored coaxial cable uses a stainless braid over PTFE dielectric, which holds its impedance characteristics from –35 °C to +177 °C without the capacitance drift that kills cheaper cables in temperature-cycling environments.

Vibration endurance is rated to 20 g continuous, 50 g shock per IEC 60068-2-6 and IEC 60068-2-27. In practice, we have seen these probes outlast the machines they monitor when installed correctly. The solid-state eddy-current technology has no moving parts, no wear surfaces, and no consumables. The only things that kill them are mechanical damage to the cable, improper gap setting that drives the tip into the shaft, or installation in an environment beyond the rated temperature range. Follow the gap procedure above and this probe will run for years without attention.
