Product Overview

330881-28-00-165-07-02 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime

Every minute a turbine or compressor sits idle, you’re bleeding money. If your Bently Nevada 3300 XL proximity system has thrown a gap voltage fault, a not OK relay trip, or a flat-line vibration channel, the transducer is the first component to swap. The 330881-28-00-165-07-02 is in stock at our Xiamen warehouse right now. We ship same day on confirmed orders. No lead-time negotiation, no factory backorder queue — just a box on a DHL truck heading to your plant.

This is a 28mm-diameter, 165 cm cable, eddy-current proximity transducer built to the full 3300 XL specification. It drops straight into any existing 8mm probe installation paired with a 330180-series Proximitor® sensor. If your system was running before the fault, this unit will put it back online.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Field experience with the 3300 XL system points to three failure modes that account for the majority of transducer replacements:

1. Gap Voltage Out of Range (most common)
The Proximitor® monitor expects a gap voltage between −10 VDC and −18 VDC at the nominal 1.0 mm air gap. If you’re reading outside this window — typically caused by cable damage, connector corrosion, or probe tip contamination — the monitor trips NOT OK. Before condemning the transducer, check the extension cable (330130/330180 series) for continuity and inspect the BNC/TNC connector for moisture ingress. If the cable checks out, the probe is the culprit.

2. Intermittent NOT OK Trips Under Load
Thermal cycling in high-temperature environments (exhaust-end bearing housings, steam turbine pedestals) causes the probe body to expand and shift the gap. If trips correlate with machine warm-up, re-gap the probe at operating temperature. The 330881-28-00-165-07-02 has a 28mm body — use a non-ferrous feeler gauge and target 1.0 mm ±0.1 mm gap at the shaft surface.

3. Flat-Line or Noise-Floor Vibration Channel
A vibration channel reading exactly 0 mil pp or pegged at the noise floor (typically 0.1–0.2 mil pp) with no machine response usually means the probe tip is cracked or the internal coil is open. Resistance check across the probe terminals: a healthy 8mm eddy-current probe reads approximately 5–8 Ω. Open circuit or >20 Ω confirms coil failure — replace the transducer.

Replacement Procedure (field-expedient):

  1. De-energize the Proximitor® sensor supply (−24 VDC). Do not hot-swap — the monitor will log a spurious trip event.
  2. Disconnect the extension cable at the probe-side connector. Note the gap setting before removal (photograph or record the locknut position).
  3. Back out the probe from the bracket. Count the thread turns — this gives you a baseline for re-gapping the new unit.
  4. Install the 330881-28-00-165-07-02. Thread in to the same turn count, then fine-adjust with a multimeter on the Proximitor® output pin: target −12.0 VDC ±0.5 VDC at nominal gap.
  5. Re-energize, confirm OK relay closes, verify vibration channel is live on the monitor display.
  6. No firmware configuration required — the 3300 XL transducer system is passive; all signal conditioning is in the Proximitor® sensor.

No DIP switches, no addressing, no firmware. The 330881 series is purely passive — swap and gap.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 330881-28-00-165-07-02 is not a lab instrument. It was designed from the ground up for the inside of a bearing housing on a machine that runs 8,760 hours a year without stopping. The stainless steel probe body handles the mechanical abuse — vibration loads up to 20g, shock events during startup transients, and the constant thermal cycling between cold standby and full-load operating temperature. The cable jacket is rated for continuous exposure at +121 °C, which covers the vast majority of steam turbine and gas compressor bearing environments.

Moisture is the other killer. Condensation inside a bearing housing, wash-down water in a pump room, or humidity in a coastal petrochemical plant — the 330881 series handles all of it. The connector interface (suffix -02) is sealed to IP67 when mated, and the probe body itself has no exposed electronics. The eddy-current coil is encapsulated in the probe tip; there is nothing to corrode or short out.

Vibration immunity is equally robust. The probe is rated to 20g continuous sinusoidal vibration across the 10–2,000 Hz range — well above the structural resonance frequencies of any standard machinery skid. Units that have been in service for 10+ years in refinery and power generation environments routinely pass bench calibration when pulled for scheduled maintenance. That is the build quality you are getting with a genuine Bently Nevada part.

Global Express Logistics

Our Xiamen warehouse operates on a same-day dispatch model for in-stock items. Here is exactly what happens after you confirm your order:

  1. Order Confirmation (within 2 hours): Our team verifies stock, pulls the unit, and photographs it for your records. You receive a confirmation email with the serial number and condition report.
  2. Export Documentation (same day): We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, and HS code declaration (HS 9031.80 for proximity measurement instruments). For destinations requiring an export license, we handle the paperwork — this adds 24–48 hours maximum.
  3. DHL / FedEx Dispatch (Day 1): Shipments leave Xiamen via DHL Express or FedEx International Priority. Transit times: Southeast Asia 1–2 days, Middle East and Europe 3–4 days, Americas 4–5 days. We select the carrier with the fastest available slot on the day of dispatch.
  4. Tracking & Customs Support: You receive a tracking number within 4 hours of dispatch. Our logistics team monitors the shipment and proactively contacts customs brokers if clearance delays occur.
  5. Delivery Confirmation: We follow up post-delivery to confirm the unit arrived in good condition and the installation was successful.

For plant shutdowns with a hard restart deadline, contact us on WhatsApp before placing the order. We will confirm the exact dispatch slot and provide a written delivery commitment.
