330904-00-05-10-01-00 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime. Ship Today.
Your vibration monitor just went blind. The 3300 XL proximity probe is dead, the shaft is spinning unmonitored, and your safety interlock is one trip away from a full unit shutdown. Every hour you wait costs real money — in oil & gas, a single compressor outage can run $50,000–$200,000 per day in lost throughput alone. The Bently Nevada 330904-00-05-10-01-00 is on our shelf in Xiamen right now. We ship DHL Express same business day. That’s the only thing that matters when you’re in a forced outage window.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
After ten years of field work on rotating machinery, these are the failure modes and swap pitfalls that actually bite engineers on-site:
Common Failure Signatures
- OK LED extinguished on the 3300/16 monitor, gap voltage reads –24 VDC rail: The probe tip or integral cable has an open circuit. Nine times out of ten it’s a cable fracture at the probe body exit — the most mechanically stressed point. Replace the probe assembly, not just the extension cable.
- Gap voltage stuck at 0 VDC (or near supply positive): Short circuit in the coaxial cable or at the connector. Check the 10-32 UNF connector for moisture ingress or crushed centre pin before condemning the probe.
- Vibration reading pegged at full scale, no actual machine trip: Intermittent open — often caused by a hairline crack in the cable jacket that closes under vibration. Flex the cable by hand while watching the monitor. If the reading jumps, the cable is the culprit.
- Elevated noise floor / erratic 1× amplitude: Verify target surface finish (Ra ≤ 0.8 µm recommended) and check for shaft runout or electrical runout. A new probe will not fix a scarred shaft.
- Probe reads correctly on bench but drifts in service: Thermal gradient between probe body and driver. Confirm the driver is rated for the ambient temperature at its mounting location. The 330904-00-05-10-01-00 standard variant is rated to +177 °C at the probe tip — but the 330180 driver has its own thermal limits.
Replacement Procedure — Field Checklist
- Record the existing gap voltage before removal (target: –10.0 VDC ± 0.5 VDC for a nominal 1.0 mm gap on 4140 steel). This is your post-installation acceptance criterion.
- De-energise the monitor channel and lock out the driver supply before disconnecting the probe connector. The driver output is live at –24 VDC; connector arcing can damage the oscillator circuit.
- Measure total system cable length: probe integral cable (5 m) + extension cable. The 330180 driver is calibrated for a specific total length — typically 5 m, 9 m, or 15 m. Mixing lengths without recalibration shifts the scale factor and invalidates your vibration readings. Confirm the extension cable part number matches the driver calibration label.
- Inspect the probe mounting bracket for fretting or elongated holes. A loose probe changes the static gap and introduces mechanical noise into the vibration signal.
- After installation, verify gap voltage, check the OK relay status, and perform a slow-roll vibration check before releasing the machine to operations. Do not skip the slow-roll — it catches electrical runout that will corrupt your 1× vector data.
- If replacing on a Bently Nevada 3500 rack: confirm the I/O module (3500/42 or 3500/44) is configured for the correct transducer type and gap range in the System 1 / Rack Configuration software. A misconfigured I/O module will accept the probe signal but apply the wrong engineering unit conversion.
Alternative Target Materials — Scale Factor Correction
If your shaft is Inconel 718 or 17-4 PH stainless, the nominal 7.87 V/mm scale factor does not apply. Bently Nevada publishes target material correction curves in document GEK-105178. Apply the correction factor before setting alarm and trip setpoints, or your protection system will be miscalibrated from day one.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The 3300 XL probe series was not designed for a clean instrument room. It was designed for the inside of a gas turbine enclosure — 60 °C ambient, hydrocarbon mist, 2 g broadband vibration, and zero tolerance for false trips. The 330904-00-05-10-01-00 reflects that design philosophy in every detail.
The probe body is machined from 316 stainless steel, resistant to the H₂S-bearing atmospheres common in sour gas service. The integral cable uses a PTFE-insulated coaxial core inside a stainless steel armoured jacket — the armour is not decorative; it is the primary mechanical protection against cable damage from rotating components, maintenance traffic, and thermal cycling. The 10-32 UNF connector is a precision-machined coaxial interface, not a commodity connector. Mating torque matters: under-torqued connectors introduce contact resistance that shifts the gap voltage; over-torqued connectors crack the PTFE dielectric. Torque to 0.9 N·m (8 in·lb) and apply thread-locking compound only if specified by your site procedure.
Thermal cycling is the silent killer of proximity probe systems. The probe tip expands and contracts with temperature, and if the mounting bracket constrains that movement, the probe body will fatigue at the thread root. Always use the Bently Nevada-specified probe holder with the correct thread engagement depth. Bottoming out the probe threads in a non-standard bracket is a common field error that causes probe body fracture within months.
In high-humidity environments — offshore platforms, coastal plants, tropical climates — moisture ingress at the connector is the leading cause of premature failure. Apply a thin bead of silicone RTV around the mated connector after installation. It takes 30 seconds and extends connector life by years. Remove it cleanly at the next maintenance interval with a plastic pick; do not use metal tools near the connector centre pin.
Global Express Logistics
Our warehouse is located in Xiamen, Fujian Province — one of China’s primary export hubs with direct access to DHL Express, FedEx International Priority, and UPS Worldwide Express gateways. When you place an urgent order before 15:00 CST, the unit ships the same business day.
Typical transit times from Xiamen:
- Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia): 2–3 business days via DHL Express
- Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait): 3–4 business days via FedEx International Priority
- Europe (Germany, Netherlands, UK, France): 3–5 business days via DHL Express
- North America (USA, Canada): 4–5 business days via FedEx International Priority
- Australia & New Zealand: 3–4 business days via DHL Express
Every shipment includes a commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of conformance. For orders requiring a country-of-origin certificate or specific customs documentation (FORM E, EUR.1, etc.), advise us at the time of order and we will prepare the paperwork before dispatch. We have shipped to over 60 countries; customs clearance delays are rare when documentation is complete and accurate — and we make sure it is.
For extremely time-critical situations — plant shutdown windows measured in hours, not days — contact us directly on WhatsApp. We can arrange airport-to-airport freight with local courier pickup at the destination for same-day delivery in some major industrial cities. This is not a standard service, but when a refinery is down, standard is not good enough.
