Product Overview

330904-00-06-50-02-00 In Stock — Cut Downtime Before It Cuts Your Output

Every hour your turbine or compressor sits idle, the losses compound. A failed proximity transducer on a critical shaft is not a maintenance event — it is a production emergency. The Bently Nevada 330904-00-06-50-02-00 is on our shelf in Xiamen right now. We ship same day. Your machine runs again.

This is not a catalog listing. This is a field-ready unit, inspected, packaged, and staged for express dispatch to wherever your plant is located — whether that is Rotterdam, Houston, Singapore, or Jubail.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Ten years of field calls teach you that most 330904 failures fall into three buckets. Know which one you are dealing with before you pull the probe.

Fault 1 — Gap Voltage Out of Range (most common)
System 1 or the 3500 rack throws a Not OK on the proximitor channel. Before condemning the probe, check the gap voltage at the driver output. Nominal is −10 VDC ±0.5 V at the recommended air gap (typically 1.0 mm / 40 mil for 8 mm probes). If gap voltage reads −24 V (rail), the probe cable is open. If it reads 0 V, the driver is likely shorted or the probe tip is touching the shaft. Measure first, replace second.

Fault 2 — Intermittent Signal / High Noise Floor
Eddy-current systems are sensitive to connector contamination. The 2-pin MIL-C-5015 connector at the probe-to-extension cable junction is the first place to inspect. Moisture ingress, corrosion, or a loose coupling nut will produce erratic gap voltage that mimics shaft vibration. Clean with contact cleaner, re-torque the coupling nut to spec (finger-tight plus 1/4 turn), and re-check. If noise persists, swap the extension cable before replacing the probe — extension cables fail far more often than probes.

Fault 3 — Sensitivity Drift After High-Temperature Excursion
If the probe has been exposed to temperatures above 121°C (common near steam turbine bearing housings during a seal failure event), the ferrite core inside the probe coil can shift calibration permanently. The gap voltage will appear normal but vibration readings will be consistently low or high. The only fix is probe replacement. When installing the new 330904-00-06-50-02-00, re-gap to the Bently Nevada recommended air gap and verify sensitivity with a calibration standard before returning the machine to service.

Replacement Checklist (field-proven sequence):

  • De-energize the driver. Confirm −24 VDC supply is isolated.
  • Record the existing gap voltage and air gap measurement before removal.
  • Remove the probe using the correct spanner — never grip the cable.
  • Inspect the mounting bracket bore for fretting or corrosion. Clean if needed.
  • Install the new 330904-00-06-50-02-00. Thread by hand first, then torque to 2.3 N·m (20 in-lb) maximum.
  • Set air gap to 1.0 mm (40 mil) using a non-ferrous feeler gauge.
  • Re-energize driver. Verify gap voltage: −10 VDC ±0.5 V.
  • Confirm OK status on the 3500 rack or System 1 before releasing the machine.
  • Log the replacement in your CMMS with the new probe serial number.

Driver Compatibility Note: The NSv suffix designates the Non-Standard voltage driver interface. Confirm your driver is a 3300 XL NSv-compatible unit (e.g., 330180-91-00). Mixing NSv probes with standard 3300 XL drivers will produce incorrect sensitivity and false vibration readings — a mistake that has caused unnecessary shutdowns on more than one site.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 3300 XL NSv system was not designed for a climate-controlled instrument room. It was designed for the bearing housing of a 50 MW gas turbine running at 3,000 RPM in a Middle Eastern petrochemical plant. The 330904-00-06-50-02-00 reflects that design intent.

The probe body is machined from 316 stainless steel, providing resistance to hydrogen sulfide and chloride environments common in refinery and offshore applications. The integral cable jacket is rated for continuous immersion in lubricating oil — a condition that destroys lesser transducers within months. The MIL-spec connector is rated for 500 mating cycles and sealed against IP67 ingress when properly coupled.

Vibration endurance testing per MIL-STD-810 covers 5–500 Hz sweep at 10 G, which exceeds the structural vibration levels found on virtually all rotating machinery installations. Thermal cycling from −35°C to +121°C does not degrade the ferrite core calibration within the rated temperature envelope. The extension cable is rated for continuous flexing — relevant for installations where the cable must route through vibrating ductwork or cable trays subject to thermal expansion.

In short: this transducer will outlast the bearing it is monitoring, provided it is installed correctly and the gap is set properly. The units we ship from Xiamen are stored in climate-controlled conditions and inspected before dispatch. You are not getting shelf-worn stock.
