Product Overview

330905-00-05-05-01-00 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime

Every hour a turbine or compressor sits idle costs real money — production losses, penalty clauses, idle crews. The Bently Nevada 330905-00-05-05-01-00 3300 XL NSv Proximity Transducer System is one of the most failure-critical components in any rotating machinery protection loop. When it goes down, you don’t have days to wait on a factory lead time. We stock it. We ship it today.

From our Xiamen warehouse, DHL and FedEx Priority move this unit to your plant gate in 24–72 hours across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. No broker delays, no customs surprises — we handle the paperwork. Your maintenance window stays on schedule.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Most common failure modes on the 330905 system:

1. Gap voltage out of range (monitor shows OK-to-trip or danger). Before condemning the probe, check the Proximitor output with a calibrated DVM. Nominal gap at 1.0 mm is approximately –7.87 V for standard 3300 XL; NSv output scaling differs — pull the specific calibration sheet for this part number. If the DC output is drifting or noisy, the Proximitor oscillator circuit has likely degraded. Replace the full matched system — do not mix probe and Proximitor from different calibration sets.

2. High 1X vibration spike with no process change. Nine times out of ten this is a connector issue, not a real machine event. Inspect the MIL-spec coaxial connectors at both ends of the extension cable. Moisture ingress at the probe-to-extension junction is the number-one field failure point. Clean with contact cleaner, re-torque to spec, and re-check. If the spike persists, swap the extension cable first — it’s the cheapest component in the chain.

3. Monitor card showing Not OK with no alarm condition. Verify the –24 VDC supply rail at the Proximitor terminal. A sagging power supply (below –22 V) will cause the Proximitor to output an out-of-range DC level that the 3500 monitor interprets as a hardware fault. Check the power supply module before pulling the transducer system.

Replacement procedure — field checklist:

  • Inhibit the channel on the 3500 monitor before disconnecting. Bypassing without inhibit will trigger a trip on turbine protection systems.
  • Record the existing gap voltage (DC output) before removal. Target the same gap (typically 1.0–1.5 mm) on reinstallation to stay within the linear range.
  • The 330905-00-05-05-01-00 is a matched system — probe, extension cable, and Proximitor are calibrated together. Never substitute individual components from a different part number without re-verifying the scale factor.
  • After installation, perform a static gap check: adjust probe depth until DC output is within ±0.5 V of the original recorded value.
  • Re-enable the channel and observe 1X and 2X vibration trends for at least one full machine revolution cycle before releasing the inhibit.
  • Log the replacement in your machinery history file with the new serial number for traceability.

NSv-specific note: The Non-Standard Voltage output scaling is not interchangeable with standard 3300 XL or 3300 5mm systems. Confirm your 3500 monitor I/O module (3500/40M or 3500/42M) is configured for NSv input before powering up. Incorrect scale factor configuration will produce false vibration readings and may mask real machine faults.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 3300 XL NSv system was designed for environments that destroy lesser sensors. The probe body is machined from 316 stainless steel with a ceramic-filled epoxy tip — resistant to process fluids, lube oil, and steam condensate. The Proximitor enclosure carries IP66 rating, meaning it withstands direct water jets and heavy dust ingress without compromise to the oscillator circuit inside.

Vibration resistance is validated to IEC 60068-2-6 sinusoidal sweep profiles — the kind of broadband excitation seen on gas turbine skids and compressor trains running at 3,000–3,600 RPM with structural resonances. The MIL-spec coaxial connectors are gold-plated and rated for thousands of mating cycles, which matters when your maintenance team is pulling and re-installing sensors during every major overhaul.

Temperature cycling is the silent killer of proximity transducer systems. The 330905 Proximitor is rated to –35 °C to +65 °C — covering everything from cold-start conditions in northern climates to the radiant heat of a gas turbine enclosure. The probe itself handles up to +85 °C at the tip, suitable for bearing housing installations where ambient temperatures routinely exceed what standard industrial sensors can tolerate.

Units in our inventory are stored in climate-controlled conditions, individually bagged with desiccant, and inspected for connector integrity and cable continuity before dispatch. Any unit that fails our pre-ship check is quarantined — it does not reach your plant.
