330104-00-13-10-02-00 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime
Every hour a critical turbine, compressor, or pump sits idle costs real money — production losses, contractual penalties, and the kind of pressure that makes plant managers age fast. The Bently Nevada 330104-00-13-10-02-00 is an 8mm eddy-current proximity probe from the 3300 XL series, and we stock it in Xiamen specifically for situations where waiting three weeks for an OEM delivery is not an option. We ship DHL/FedEx express globally. You get the part. You restart the machine. That’s the whole point.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
Ten years of field calls teach you that most 330104 failures fall into four buckets. Here’s what to check before you condemn the probe — and what to watch when you swap it out.
1. Probe tip contamination or physical damage. The most common cause of erratic gap voltage readings. Inspect the tip under magnification. Even a hairline crack in the epoxy face or a thin film of process oil baked onto the tip will shift your sensitivity curve. Clean with isopropyl alcohol; if the tip is cracked, the probe is done — replace it.
2. Proximitor® mismatch. The 330104 is calibrated for the 3300 XL 8mm Proximitor® (e.g., 330180-X1-05). If someone swapped in a 3300 NSv or a 7200 series Proximitor® during a previous repair, your output voltage will be off by 15–25% even with a perfect probe. Always verify the Proximitor® part number before blaming the probe. The matched-set calibration certificate should list both part numbers — if it doesn’t, treat the system as uncalibrated.
3. Extension cable integrity. The integral 1.0 m cable on the 330104 is robust, but the extension cable (330130 series) is the weak link in most installations. Check for chafing at conduit entry points, moisture ingress at connectors, and shield continuity. A damaged extension cable produces the same symptom as a failed probe: noisy or drifting gap voltage. Disconnect the extension cable and measure the probe alone before ordering a replacement probe.
4. Gap voltage out of spec after installation. Target gap for the 3300 XL 8mm system is −10.0 VDC ± 0.5 VDC, corresponding to approximately 1.27 mm (50 mil) physical gap. If you’re reading −8 V or −13 V with the shaft stationary, the probe is either not seated correctly in the holder or the holder itself has worn. Re-gap using a feeler gauge; do not rely on the voltage alone until you’ve confirmed the physical gap independently.
Replacement procedure checklist:
- De-energize the monitoring rack and lock out the Proximitor® supply before removing the probe.
- Record the existing gap voltage and physical gap measurement — you’ll need this to verify the replacement is correctly installed.
- Inspect the probe holder threads for corrosion or damage. A damaged holder will misalign the new probe and cause immediate re-failure.
- Install the new 330104 and set gap to −10.0 VDC ± 0.5 VDC with shaft stationary at slow-roll speed.
- Verify the matched-set calibration: the probe serial number and Proximitor® serial number must match the calibration certificate. Mismatched sets introduce up to ±3% sensitivity error — acceptable for some applications, not for API 670 machinery protection.
- After restart, monitor the 1× and 2× vibration trend for the first 30 minutes. A sudden step change in the baseline reading (not a gradual drift) usually indicates a wiring issue, not a probe problem.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The 3300 XL 8mm probe was designed for the environments where machinery protection matters most — not climate-controlled control rooms, but the hot, wet, vibrating spaces around real industrial machinery.
The stainless steel housing is hermetically sealed at the tip, which means process fluid splash, steam condensate, and high-pressure purge gas do not reach the sensing coil. In petrochemical and LNG applications where the probe is exposed to hydrocarbon mist or H₂S-bearing atmospheres, the sealed construction prevents the coil degradation that kills cheaper sensors within months.
Vibration immunity is a non-issue for a non-contact sensor — there are no moving parts to fatigue. The integral cable uses a multi-layer construction with a stainless steel armor option (specify at order) for installations where cable routing passes through high-vibration zones near bearing housings or gearbox casings.
Thermal performance is validated across the full −35 °C to +177 °C range at the probe tip. In practice, this covers the vast majority of steam turbine bearing pedestals, gas turbine compressor casings, and hot-section expander housings without requiring any additional thermal management. For applications exceeding 177 °C at the probe tip — certain hot-gas expanders and some steam turbine exhaust ends — consult us for high-temperature variants.
Long-term drift is the metric that matters for continuous monitoring. The 3300 XL system’s factory-matched calibration holds sensitivity within ±1% over a five-year service interval under normal operating conditions, which is why most operators replace probes on a scheduled basis during major overhauls rather than on condition. When you do replace on schedule, you want a probe that arrives ready to install — not one that needs field calibration before it can go into service.
Global Express Logistics
Our warehouse is in Xiamen, China — one of the country’s primary export hubs with direct access to DHL, FedEx, and UPS international express networks. For plant emergencies, this matters: we are not routing your shipment through a consolidation center in Shanghai or Shenzhen. It goes from our shelf to the courier’s vehicle, same day for orders confirmed before 15:00 CST.
Typical transit times from Xiamen:
- Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia): 2–3 business days, DHL Express or FedEx International Priority.
- Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait): 3–4 business days, DHL Express.
- Europe (Germany, Netherlands, UK, France, Italy): 3–5 business days, FedEx International Priority or DHL Express.
- North America (USA, Canada): 4–6 business days, FedEx International Priority.
- South America (Brazil, Chile, Colombia): 5–7 business days, DHL Express.
- Africa (South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt): 5–8 business days, DHL Express.
We prepare full export documentation as standard: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and HS code declaration (HS 9031.80 for proximity probes). For customers in countries requiring import permits or specific customs documentation for industrial instrumentation, contact us in advance — we’ve handled customs clearance for shipments into over 40 countries and know where the friction points are.
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms are available for select regions. If you need the part landed and cleared with no customs surprises on your end, ask us when you inquire. For plant shutdown emergencies where every hour counts, we can also arrange Saturday pickup with DHL in Xiamen — confirm availability when you contact us.
