330104-01-05-10-02-00 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime. Ship Today.
Every hour a turbine, compressor, or pump sits idle because of a failed proximity probe, you’re bleeding money. On a mid-size gas turbine train, unplanned downtime can run $50,000–$200,000 per day in lost production, emergency labor, and contractual penalties. The Bently Nevada 330104-01-05-10-02-00 is the exact OEM sensor your 3300 XL machinery protection system needs — and we have it on the shelf in Xiamen, ready to clear customs and board the next DHL or FedEx flight to your site.
This is not a substitute. Not a compatible alternative. This is the genuine 330104-01-05-10-02-00 — the 8mm eddy-current proximity probe that Baker Hughes / Bently Nevada built specifically for API 670-compliant radial vibration and axial position measurement. If your 3500 rack is throwing a “Not OK” on a vibration channel, or your System 1 software has lost a measurement point, this is the part that gets you back online.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
Symptom: 3500 rack shows “Not OK” on a radial vibration channel.
First, don’t assume the probe is dead. Swap the proximitor output cable at the rack terminal block and check if the fault follows the cable or stays on the channel. If it stays on the channel, the rack card may be the culprit. If the fault follows the cable, work back toward the probe.
Gap voltage check — do this before pulling the probe:
With the machine at rest, measure DC voltage at the proximitor output terminals. For a healthy 330104 system with a nominal 1.0 mm gap, you should read approximately –10.5 VDC (±0.5 V). A reading near 0 VDC or more positive than –1 VDC indicates an open circuit — broken cable or failed probe coil. A reading more negative than –17 VDC indicates a short or the probe is out of range (gap too large).
Replacement procedure — field notes:
- Before removing the old probe, record the installed gap with a feeler gauge or by noting the DC gap voltage. Target gap for most applications: 1.0 mm (–10.5 VDC). Your OEM documentation may specify a different setpoint — use that.
- The 330104 uses an M14 × 1.25 thread. Apply a thin coat of anti-seize to the threads before installation. Torque to 20–25 N·m. Do not over-torque — the 316 SS body is strong, but the bracket threads in older installations may not be.
- The -05- in the part number suffix denotes a 0.5 m integral cable. Confirm your extension cable (330130 series) is 5.0 m to maintain the 5.5 m total calibrated length. Mixing cable lengths invalidates the factory scale factor calibration.
- After installation, verify gap voltage at the proximitor output before energizing the machine. Adjust probe depth until you hit your target DC voltage. Lock the locknut and re-verify — the gap can shift slightly when the locknut is tightened.
- If replacing a probe on a machine with a non-standard target material (titanium, Inconel, duplex stainless), the 200 mV/mil scale factor will not apply. You must use Bently Nevada’s target material correction curves or perform an in-situ calibration with a micrometer stage.
- After replacement, perform a slow-roll check (typically 200–600 RPM) and verify that 1× runout vectors are consistent with historical data. A sudden change in slow-roll runout after probe replacement usually indicates a gap or orientation error, not a machine problem.
Common fault codes on 3500 racks after probe swap:
– “Not OK” persists after replacement: Check that the new probe’s integral cable connector is fully seated at the extension cable junction. The MIL-C-5015 connector requires a firm quarter-turn to lock — a partially engaged connector will cause intermittent or permanent Not OK.
– High 1× vibration immediately after startup: Re-check installed gap. A gap outside the 0.25–2.25 mm linear range will produce a clipped or saturated output that the monitor interprets as high vibration.
– Erratic readings during thermal transient: Verify the extension cable is routed away from heat sources. The 330130 extension cable is rated to 121°C, but sustained exposure above 100°C degrades the cable jacket and can introduce measurement noise.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The 330104-01-05-10-02-00 was not designed for a clean lab environment. It was built for the places where machines actually run — petrochemical plants with H₂S atmospheres, offshore platforms with salt spray and constant vibration, power stations where ambient temperatures swing from –20°C in winter to +50°C in summer, and paper mills where the air is saturated with moisture and chemical mist.
The 316 stainless steel body resists chloride-induced pitting corrosion that destroys standard 304 SS hardware within months in coastal or chemical environments. The IP67 rating means the probe survives temporary immersion — relevant in applications where wash-down or flooding is a risk. The armored integral cable is designed to withstand the continuous flexing and vibration loads present in high-cycle machinery without developing micro-fractures in the conductor.
Thermal cycling is where many third-party proximity probes fail. The 330104 system maintains its ±1% scale factor accuracy across the full –35°C to +121°C operating range because the probe coil, cable, and proximitor are factory-matched and thermally characterized as a system. A probe that drifts 5% in scale factor at elevated temperature is not just inaccurate — it can mask a developing machinery fault or trigger a spurious trip that shuts down a critical asset.
Vibration immunity is equally critical. The probe body is designed to withstand the broadband vibration environment of the machinery it monitors — including the high-frequency structural resonances that can cause sensor self-excitation in poorly designed proximity probes. The 3300 XL platform has decades of field validation in environments where vibration levels at the sensor mounting bracket routinely exceed 10 g broadband.
