Fault 1 — Hard 4 mA Flatline (Open or Shorted Coil)
Isolate the loop at the nearest junction box. Measure resistance across the two conductors with the monitor de-energized. Above 8 MΩ: open coil — typically caused by mechanical shock overload or sustained moisture ingress through a degraded connector seal. Below 4 Ω: shorted winding. Neither is field-repairable. Before ordering, verify the suffix: the -02-04 uses a MIL-C-5015 2-pin connector. The -02-00 variant uses a different cable termination. Ordering the wrong suffix adds a cable modification job to an already urgent situation.
Fault 2 — Spurious High-Vibration Alarm, No Process Change
Before condemning the transducer, measure the 24 VDC loop supply at the monitor terminal strip under live load. A rail sagging below 12 V compresses the 4–20 mA output span and generates false high-velocity readings. Check the PSU and associated fuse first.
