Common failure signatures for AIP830-101:

  • ALM-3101 / ALM-3102 (I/O Communication Error): The FCS loses contact with the module over V-net. First suspect: module seating. Pull and reseat before condemning the card. If the error persists after reseating, the backplane connector pins on the NU may be oxidized — clean with IPA and a non-conductive brush. If still present, the module’s internal V-net transceiver has likely failed. Replace the AIP830-101.
  • ALM-3201 (Hardware Fault): Internal self-diagnostic failure. This is a hard fault — the module’s onboard processor or A/D converter has failed. No field repair possible. Swap the card.
  • Single-channel dropout (one channel reads 0 mA or pegged at 20 mA): Before replacing the module, verify the field transmitter loop is intact.   3. Firmware auto-download. On first power-up in a CENTUM VP system, the FCS will push the correct firmware to the replacement module automatically. Allow 60–90 seconds for initialization before expecting normal I/O operation. Do not cycle power during this window.
  4. Post-swap verification. In the FCS builder, force a module status refresh. Confirm all 8 channels show “Normal” status. Run a loop check on each channel against your P&ID to verify signal integrity before releasing the loop to automatic control.
  5. HART re-registration. If you use Yokogawa PRM for HART device management, re-scan the replaced module’s channels to re-register the field devices. HART device tags and parameters are stored in the field instruments, not the AIP830-101, so no reconfiguration of transmitters is needed.
