Product Overview

HITACHI LPF200A — Stop the Bleeding: Every Hour of Drive Downtime Costs You Real Money

Your conveyor stopped. Your pump tripped. Your VFD panel is throwing noise faults and the production manager is already on the phone. You’ve isolated the fault to the HITACHI LPF200A Low Pass Filter Board — the internal PCB that keeps analog signal lines clean inside L200, SJ200, and WJ200 series drives. We have it. It ships today.

At siemensplc.com, we stock hard-to-find drive components specifically because downtime doesn’t wait for a 3-week lead time from the OEM distributor. One call, one shipment, back online.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

After ten years of field work on HITACHI drives, here’s what actually happens when the LPF200A fails — and what you need to know before you swap it.

Fault Symptoms That Point to LPF200A Failure:

  • E07 / E09 fault codes — Analog input over-range or signal loss. If your speed reference is 0–10 V and the drive keeps tripping E07 with no wiring change, the filter board is the first suspect after ruling out the potentiometer and cable shield.
  • Unstable PID feedback — The process variable oscillates wildly even with a stable sensor signal. The LPF200A is the last line of defense between the noisy drive interior and your 4–20 mA transmitter. When it degrades, PID loops go hunting.
  • Erratic speed reference — Motor speed hunts or surges at constant load. Scope the AI1 terminal: if you see high-frequency ripple riding on the DC reference, the filter cap on the LPF200A has failed.
  • Visible PCB damage — Swollen electrolytic capacitors, burnt traces near the filter network, or discoloration around the input connector. Any of these: replace immediately, do not attempt to re-run.

Replacement Procedure — Field Notes:

  • Power isolation first. Confirm DC bus voltage is below 30 V before touching any internal PCB. HITACHI L200/SJ200 drives retain bus charge for up to 5 minutes after power-off. Use a multimeter on the P/N terminals — not just the indicator LED.
  • No address switches on this board. The LPF200A is passive — no DIP switches, no firmware, no self-addressing. Plug-and-play replacement. Confirm connector orientation matches the original before seating.
  • Parameter backup before any work. Use HITACHI’s OPE-SR operator or EzSQ software to dump all parameters to file. Even a passive board swap can cause a control board reset on some firmware revisions if the drive detects a hardware change during power-up.
  • Check firmware revision post-swap. On SJ200 drives with firmware below V1.5, a cold boot after internal board replacement occasionally resets F001 (output frequency) and A001 (frequency source) to factory defaults. Verify these two parameters immediately on first power-up.
  • Anti-static handling mandatory. The LPF200A contains CMOS-sensitive components. Ground yourself to the drive chassis before handling. Do not place the board on unshielded surfaces.
  • Inspect the mating connector. Corrosion or bent pins on the board-to-control-board connector are a common secondary fault. Clean with contact cleaner and reseat firmly before closing the drive.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The LPF200A was not designed for a climate-controlled server room. It was designed for the inside of a VFD panel on a factory floor — and that environment is brutal.

HITACHI’s internal PCB components for the L200/SJ200 platform are rated for continuous operation across a wide thermal range. The filter board sits inside the drive enclosure where ambient temperatures regularly exceed 40°C during summer production peaks. The electrolytic capacitors used in the filter network are selected for extended service life under these conditions — but they are still the first component to degrade after years of thermal cycling. This is why the LPF200A is a known wear item on drives that have been in service for 5+ years.

Vibration is the second killer. Drives mounted on machine frames or near compressors experience continuous mechanical vibration that fatigues solder joints over time. The LPF200A’s connector interface is the most vulnerable point — inspect it carefully during replacement. If the connector shows fretting corrosion (black oxide on gold contacts), clean before reinstalling.

Humidity is the third factor. In coastal and tropical installations — common across Southeast Asia — condensation cycles accelerate PCB surface leakage and can cause intermittent filter performance before outright failure. If your site runs above 85% RH regularly, consider adding a panel heater to prevent condensation on drive internals.

Every LPF200A we ship has been stored in climate-controlled, anti-static conditions. No shelf-degraded stock. No mystery surplus. What you receive is what the OEM shipped.
