Product Overview

ABB AGBB-01C REV.B — Every Hour of Downtime Costs You. We Ship Today.

Your ACS800 tripped. The gate driver is gone. Production is stopped. You’ve already called your local distributor — 3 weeks lead time. That’s not an option when a cement kiln, a steel rolling mill, or a water treatment pump is sitting dead on the floor.

We stock the ABB AGBB-01C REV.B gate driver board in Xiamen, China. Same-day dispatch via DHL Express or FedEx Priority. Most destinations in Southeast Asia, Middle East, and Europe receive within 3–5 business days. This is the board that gets your drive back online — not a substitute, not a clone. Original ABB, traceable, tested.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

How do you know the AGBB-01C REV.B has failed? In the field, gate driver failure on an ACS800 typically presents as one of the following fault codes:

  • Fault 0022 – SHORT CIRCUIT: IGBT desaturation triggered. The gate driver detected collector-emitter voltage exceeding threshold during conduction — classic sign of either a shorted IGBT or a gate driver that can no longer hold the gate properly. Before condemning the IGBT module, swap the gate driver first. It’s cheaper and faster.
  • Fault 0009 – UNDERVOLTAGE: If the auxiliary ±15 V supply feeding the AGBB-01C has degraded, the UVLO circuit trips the drive. Measure the auxiliary rail at the gate driver connector. If it’s sagging below ±13.5 V under load, the gate driver’s internal regulation may be pulling it down.
  • Fault 0001 – OVERCURRENT (intermittent): Aging optocouplers in the isolation stage introduce propagation delay variation. This causes asymmetric switching — one IGBT in a phase leg turns on slightly before the complementary device turns off, creating a shoot-through spike. The drive sees it as overcurrent. The fault is intermittent and temperature-dependent, making it hard to catch. If you’ve replaced the IGBT module and the fault returns, the gate driver is the culprit.

Replacement procedure — step by step:

  1. Isolate the drive from mains. Verify DC bus voltage is below 50 V using a calibrated meter before touching any internal components. ACS800 DC bus capacitors hold charge for several minutes after power-off.
  2. Photograph the existing AGBB-01C REV.B connector orientation and cable routing before disconnection. The fiber optic connectors (if present) are directional — TX and RX must not be swapped.
  3. Release the board-to-board connector locking tab and extract the gate driver board vertically. Do not flex the PCB — the connector pins are fine-pitch and will bend.
  4. Inspect the IGBT module gate and emitter terminals for carbon tracking or burn marks. If the IGBT is visually damaged, replace it before installing the new gate driver — a shorted IGBT will destroy a new gate driver within milliseconds of power-up.
  5. Install the AGBB-01C REV.B replacement. Seat the connector fully until the locking tab clicks. Reconnect fiber optic cables — verify TX→RX cross-connection to the control board.
  6. REV.B requires no DIP switch configuration or address setting for standard ACS800 single-drive applications. In multi-drive cabinet configurations using RDCU control units, verify the drive address parameter (99.02) is correctly set in the drive software — this is a software parameter, not a hardware jumper on the gate driver.
  7. Power up with the motor disconnected. Confirm no fault codes on first energization. Run a short-circuit test via the drive’s built-in diagnostics (parameter group 34 on ACS800) before reconnecting the load.

REV.A vs REV.B compatibility note: REV.B is a drop-in replacement for REV.A in all standard ACS800 frame sizes (R2–R8). The connector footprint and pinout are identical. REV.B incorporates improved optocoupler selection with tighter propagation delay tolerance — this is the fix for the intermittent overcurrent fault described above.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The AGBB-01C REV.B is not a lab component. It was designed for environments where drives run 24/7 in conditions that would kill consumer electronics in a week.

Vibration: The PCB assembly is conformally coated and uses through-hole mounting for critical components. In cement plant applications where crusher and mill vibration propagates through the drive cabinet structure, the board-to-board connector design distributes mechanical stress across the full connector body rather than concentrating it at solder joints. Field data from ACS800 installations in quarrying operations shows gate driver boards outlasting the IGBT modules they drive by a factor of 3:1 under continuous vibration exposure.

Thermal cycling: Industrial drives in outdoor substations or poorly ventilated motor control centers experience daily thermal swings of 40°C or more. The AGBB-01C REV.B’s component selection accounts for differential thermal expansion between the PCB substrate and mounted components. The optocouplers are rated for 10,000+ hours at 85°C junction temperature — well above the operating point in a properly cooled ACS800 cabinet.

Humidity and contamination: In pulp and paper mills, offshore platforms, and food processing facilities, airborne moisture and conductive particulates are a constant threat to PCB integrity. The conformal coating on the AGBB-01C REV.B provides IEC 60068-2-78 compliant humidity resistance. For installations in particularly aggressive environments, request our pre-inspection service — we verify coating integrity under UV light before dispatch.

EMC immunity: The galvanic isolation barrier in the gate driver provides >2500 V isolation between the control side and the power side. In installations where the drive is located near large transformers or bus bars carrying high fault currents, this isolation prevents common-mode transients from propagating back into the control board — a failure mode that has destroyed more than a few RDCU control units in the field.

Global Express Logistics

We operate from Xiamen, China — one of the most logistics-connected cities in Asia, with direct DHL and FedEx hub access. When your production line is down, the last thing you need is a part sitting in a warehouse waiting for a weekly consolidation shipment.

Our dispatch process:

  • Orders confirmed before 14:00 CST are dispatched same business day.
  • Each unit is packed in an anti-static ESD bag, placed in foam-padded inner packaging, and sealed in a double-wall carton rated for international air freight handling.
  • A commercial invoice with correct HS code (8537.10 for control boards) and declared value is prepared for customs clearance. We have experience with import documentation for UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and EU member states — we know what customs officers in each region look for.
  • Tracking numbers are sent via email and WhatsApp within 2 hours of dispatch.

Typical transit times from Xiamen:

  • Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam): 2–3 business days via DHL Express
  • Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar): 3–4 business days via FedEx Priority
  • South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh): 3–5 business days via DHL Express
  • Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Turkey): 4–6 business days via FedEx International Priority
  • Australia / New Zealand: 3–5 business days via DHL Express
  • Americas (USA, Brazil, Mexico): 5–7 business days via FedEx Priority

For genuinely critical situations — plant shutdown, safety system failure, contractual penalty exposure — contact us directly on WhatsApp. We can arrange weekend dispatch and provide real-time tracking updates throughout transit.
