Product Overview

ABB AINT-12 Motor Control Interface Board — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime

Your ACS800 drive is dead. The line is stopped. Every minute costs money — maintenance contracts, production penalties, idle labor. You’ve traced the fault to the AINT-12 MC Interface Board. You need a replacement now, not in three weeks.

We stock the ABB AINT-12 in Xiamen. Same-day dispatch on confirmed orders. DHL Express to most industrial hubs in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East within 48–72 hours. No broker delays, no customs surprises — we handle the paperwork.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

After handling hundreds of ACS800 emergency callouts, these are the failure patterns that point directly to the AINT-12:

Fault Codes That Implicate the AINT-12:

  • FF52 / FF53 — PPCC Link Fault: Loss of communication between the AINT board and the PPCC (power pole control card). Before condemning the AINT-12, check the fiber optic ribbon cable seating. If reseating doesn’t clear it within two power cycles, the AINT-12 is the primary suspect.
  • FF61 — Overcurrent at Startup: Can be caused by corrupted gate pulse timing data on the AINT board. If the RMIO and NAMC boards test clean, swap the AINT-12.
  • FF8A — DC Bus Overvoltage (intermittent): Intermittent IGBT gate signal dropout from a degraded AINT-12 can cause false DC bus trips. Scope the gate signals before replacing capacitors.
  • Drive powers up but motor won’t rotate, no fault code: Classic AINT-12 partial failure. The control logic is alive but gate drive output is dead on one or more phases.

Replacement Procedure — Field Checklist:

  1. Isolate the drive. Verify DC bus discharge below 50V with a calibrated meter — do not rely on the drive’s own display if the AINT board is suspect.
  2. Back up all drive parameters via DriveWindow or the CDP control panel before touching any board. The AINT-12 replacement does not erase RMIO parameters, but a full backup takes 90 seconds and eliminates risk.
  3. Photograph the fiber optic cable routing before disconnecting. The AINT-12 has multiple PPCC fiber ports — incorrect reconnection is the #1 cause of post-replacement faults.
  4. Remove the AINT-12 by releasing the board retaining clips. Handle by edges only — ESD damage to gate driver ICs is irreversible.
  5. Seat the replacement AINT-12 firmly until both retaining clips engage. Partial seating causes intermittent PPCC link faults that are extremely difficult to diagnose.
  6. Reconnect fiber optic cables in original positions. Inspect ferrule ends for contamination — wipe with IPA if needed.
  7. Power up and monitor for FF52/FF53 on first energization. If clear, run a no-load motor test before reconnecting the mechanical load.
  8. No DIP switch or address configuration is required on the AINT-12. It is not a self-addressing module — drive frame type is determined by the RMIO/NAMC firmware, not the AINT board.

Firmware Note: The AINT-12 does not carry user-configurable firmware. Gate drive timing is hardwired to the board design. Ensure your RMIO or NAMC firmware version is compatible with your drive frame — this is independent of the AINT-12 swap.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The AINT-12 was not designed for a climate-controlled server room. ABB engineered it for the environments where drives actually live — and where they fail at the worst possible time.

The board’s conformal coating protects the PCB and SMD components against humidity ingress, condensation cycles, and airborne contaminants common in paper mills, chemical plants, and coastal marine installations. The gate driver ICs are rated for continuous operation at 55°C ambient — relevant when the drive cabinet sits next to a furnace or in a poorly ventilated MCC room.

Vibration tolerance is built into the board’s mechanical design: the plug-in connector system and retaining clip mounting distribute mechanical stress away from solder joints, which is the primary failure mode for boards in pump and compressor applications where structure-borne vibration is constant.

Units sourced from our Xiamen warehouse are stored in climate-controlled conditions with humidity indicator cards inside each anti-static bag. We do not ship boards that have been exposed to uncontrolled storage environments. Every unit is visually inspected under magnification for PCB delamination, lifted pads, and connector pin damage before dispatch.

Global Express Logistics

Downtime doesn’t wait for standard freight. Our dispatch process is built around that reality.

Order confirmed before 14:00 CST → Same-day dispatch from Xiamen.

  • DHL Express Worldwide: 1–3 business days to Europe, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Door-to-door with full tracking from pickup to delivery.
  • FedEx International Priority: 1–2 business days to North America and Australia. Preferred for time-critical shipments where customs pre-clearance is required.
  • Export Documentation: Commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin prepared same day. HS Code 8537.10 declared for smooth customs clearance. We have zero tolerance for documentation errors that cause customs holds.
  • EAR99 Classification: The AINT-12 is not subject to US export controls under EAR. No export license required for standard commercial destinations.
  • Packaging: Anti-static bag → foam-lined rigid carton → outer corrugated box. Survives the handling that express freight actually receives.

We ship to Germany, Netherlands, UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and 60+ other countries weekly. If you need a freight forwarder handoff or specific Incoterms (EXW, DAP, DDP), we accommodate on request.
