21000-28-05-15-50-03-02 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime
Every hour your turbine or compressor sits idle, the losses compound. A failed proximity probe on a critical rotating machine is not a scheduled maintenance event — it is a production emergency. The Bently Nevada 21000-28-05-15-50-03-02 Proximity Probe Housing Assembly is stocked at our Xiamen warehouse specifically for this scenario: same-day dispatch, zero compromise on authenticity, and a direct drop-in fit for your existing 3300/3500 monitoring system. No recalibration. No re-engineering. Just restored protection and a machine back online.
If your vibration monitor is throwing a Not OK status or your DCS is flagging a probe gap fault, the clock is already running. Contact us now.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
Field experience with the 21000 series surfaces a consistent set of failure modes. Before you pull the probe, run through this checklist — it will save you a second trip to the bearing pedestal.
1. Confirm the fault is the probe, not the driver or cable. Disconnect the extension cable at the Proximitor® input. Measure DC output voltage at the driver output terminal. If you read –24 VDC (rail voltage), the driver is alive and the fault is upstream — probe or cable. If output is erratic or absent, suspect the 330180 driver first.
2. Check gap voltage before condemning the probe. With the machine at rest, measure the DC gap voltage between the probe tip and shaft. Nominal is –10 VDC ± 1 V at 1.0 mm gap. A reading outside –7 to –13 VDC at that gap indicates probe sensitivity drift — replace the probe. A reading of 0 VDC with driver power confirmed means an open circuit in the probe coil or cable.
3. Thread engagement and probe gap setting on reinstallation. The 3/8-24 UNF thread requires a minimum of 6 full turns engagement in the probe holder. Set initial gap to 1.0 mm (40 mil) using a feeler gauge or the gap voltage method. Lock the jam nut to 14–17 N·m. Do not exceed 20 N·m — the stainless housing will deform the thread on the probe holder.
4. Extension cable matching. The 21000-28-05-15-50-03-02 is calibrated as a system with a 5 m extension. If your installation uses a different cable length, the sensitivity will shift. The 3500 monitor card must be reconfigured for the actual total cable length (probe + extension). Mismatched cable length is the single most common cause of a probe passing bench test but failing system calibration in the field.
5. Common fault codes on the 3500 rack:
- Not OK (NOK) LED solid red: Gap voltage outside the –2 to –18 VDC window. Check physical gap first, then probe condition.
- Alert / Danger relay tripped at rest: Likely a wiring reversal on the BNC connector or a shorted extension cable. Perform a cable continuity check — center conductor to shield should read open circuit (not shorted).
- Intermittent NOK during machine run-up: Probe holder loosening under vibration. Re-torque jam nut and inspect the armored conduit for chafing against rotating components.
- High static reading with machine stopped: Shaft surface contamination (scale, rust, weld spatter) within the probe’s 25 mm sensing diameter. Clean the shaft journal and re-gap.
6. No field calibration required for a direct replacement. The 21000-28-05-15-50-03-02 is factory-calibrated to 7.87 V/mm. As long as the replacement probe is the same part number and the cable length is unchanged, the 3500 monitor card configuration does not need to be modified. Verify the gap voltage after installation and document it in your maintenance record.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The 21000 series was not designed for a clean room. It was designed for the bearing pedestal of a 40 MW steam turbine running at 3,000 RPM in a petrochemical plant where ambient temperatures swing from –20 °C in winter to 60 °C in summer, and where oil mist, steam leaks, and high-frequency vibration are constants, not exceptions.
The 316 stainless steel housing resists chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking — a real failure mode in coastal and offshore installations. The integrated cable jacket is rated for continuous immersion in turbine oil and withstands the mechanical fatigue of low-amplitude, high-cycle vibration that destroys standard instrumentation cable over time. The probe coil assembly is hermetically sealed; moisture ingress that would detune a lesser sensor has no path into the sensing element.
Thermal stability is where the 21000 series earns its specification. Sensitivity drift across the full –35 °C to +177 °C operating range is held to ±1% of full scale — a figure that matters when your monitor card’s alarm setpoints are configured in millivolts and a 2% drift at operating temperature is the difference between a valid reading and a spurious trip that shuts down a production unit.
Vibration immunity is inherent in the eddy-current measurement principle: there are no moving parts, no contact with the shaft, and no wear mechanism. The probe that goes in today will still be reading accurately in five years, provided the gap is set correctly and the cable is protected from mechanical damage.
Global Express Logistics
Our Xiamen warehouse operates on a same-business-day dispatch model for in-stock items. Orders confirmed before 15:00 CST ship the same afternoon. Here is what the logistics chain looks like from our dock to your site:
- Packaging: Each probe assembly is individually packed in anti-static foam with the original OEM box where available. The outer carton is double-walled corrugated with moisture-barrier lining — the probe arrives in the same condition it left our shelf.
- Carrier: DHL Express or FedEx International Priority, selected based on destination and transit time. Both carriers provide door-to-door tracking with customs clearance included in the service.
- Transit Times (typical): Southeast Asia 1–2 business days; Middle East and Europe 2–3 business days; North America 2–4 business days; South America and Africa 3–5 business days.
- Export Documentation: Commercial invoice, packing list, and Certificate of Origin are prepared for every shipment. For destinations requiring an import license or end-user declaration, our logistics team will advise within 2 hours of order confirmation.
- Customs HS Code: 9031.80 (instruments and appliances for measuring or checking). Declared value matches invoice — no under-declaration.
- Emergency Freight: For shutdown situations requiring next-flight-out courier, contact us directly on WhatsApp. We have handled emergency air freight to active shutdown sites in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe with under-24-hour door-to-door delivery.
We do not use consolidation hubs or third-party freight forwarders for standard orders. Your shipment moves directly from our warehouse to the DHL or FedEx gateway facility — no intermediate handling, no delay.
