330903-00-17-05-02-00 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime. Ship Today.
Every hour a turbine or compressor sits idle because of a failed proximity probe costs real money — production losses, penalty clauses, emergency labor. The Bently Nevada 330903-00-17-05-02-00 is a 5 mm eddy-current proximity probe from the 3300 NSv platform, and we stock it in Xiamen for exactly this scenario. No waiting on factory lead times. No chasing distributors across time zones. You call, we ship.
This probe is the primary sensing element in your 3300 NSv measurement chain. When it fails — or when your vibration monitor throws a Not OK or Danger alarm that traces back to a dead probe signal — you need a verified, dimensionally identical replacement in hand before the next maintenance window closes. That is what we provide.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
After ten years of field work on rotating machinery protection systems, here is what actually goes wrong with 3300 NSv probes — and what to watch before you button everything back up.
Fault Code: Not OK (NOK) LED on Proximitor
This is the most common call I get. Before condemning the probe, check the gap voltage at the proximitor output. If you read a voltage outside the −10 VDC to −18 VDC window (for a 2 mm nominal gap on 4140 steel), the probe is either gapped wrong or the cable is open. Disconnect the extension cable at the proximitor and measure continuity on the probe + integral cable assembly. An open circuit confirms probe failure — order the 330903-00-17-05-02-00 and move on.
Cable Length Mismatch — The Silent Killer
The 3300 NSv system is calibrated as a matched set: probe integral cable + extension cable = total system length. The 330903-00-17-05-02-00 carries a 0.5 m integral cable (suffix -17). If your existing extension cable was calibrated for a probe with a different integral length, your scale factor will be off. Pull the calibration data plate off the proximitor and confirm the total cable length before installing. A 5% scale factor error on a 100 mil range probe means 5 mil of false reading — enough to mask a real bearing problem.
Target Material Correction
Standard calibration is AISI 4140 steel. If your shaft is 17-4 PH stainless, Inconel, or titanium, the eddy-current response curve shifts. Do not assume the reading is accurate. Either apply the published correction factor from the Bently Nevada calibration manual or request a field recalibration. Skipping this step on a compressor with tight clearances is how you miss a developing rub.
Replacement Procedure (Field-Verified Steps)
- De-energize the proximitor supply (−24 VDC). Do not hot-swap — transient voltages can damage the oscillator circuit.
- Loosen the probe locknut and back the probe out. Count the turns — this gives you a reference for re-gapping.
- Install the 330903-00-17-05-02-00. Thread in until probe tip is approximately 1.0 mm from shaft surface (starting point).
- Re-energize and monitor gap voltage. Adjust probe depth until output reads −10.5 VDC to −11.5 VDC (approximately 1.0 mm gap on 4140 steel at 7.87 V/mm scale factor).
- Torque locknut to specification. Re-verify gap voltage after torquing — probe can shift slightly.
- Confirm OK status on monitor. Log the as-left gap voltage in your maintenance record.
Common Alarm Codes After Replacement
If the monitor shows Danger High immediately after installation, the probe is likely gapped too close (gap voltage too high in absolute terms, shaft appears to be vibrating at maximum). If it shows Danger Low or Not OK, the probe is too far from the shaft or the cable connection is intermittent. Check the BNC connector seating at both ends before pulling the probe again.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The 330903-00-17-05-02-00 is not a lab instrument. It lives in bearing pedestals, compressor casings, and turbine enclosures where ambient temperatures swing from cold startup to sustained 150 °C+ operation, where lube oil mist coats every surface, and where the machine itself generates continuous broadband vibration across the probe mounting structure.
The 316 stainless steel housing resists H₂S, steam condensate, and process fluid ingress that would corrode a lesser housing within months. The IP67 rating on the probe body means it survives wash-down and incidental fluid immersion without compromising the coil assembly inside. The M10 × 1 thread is a coarse-pitch design that resists vibration-induced loosening — but always use the locknut and verify torque. A probe that backs out 0.2 mm under vibration will generate a false high-vibration alarm that shuts down your machine at 3 AM.
Operating temperature ceiling of 177 °C on the probe body covers the vast majority of steam turbine bearing pedestal environments. For applications exceeding this — hot-section gas turbine proximity measurements — consult the extended-temperature probe variants. Do not push this probe beyond its rated envelope and expect the calibration to hold.
Vibration resistance of the probe assembly itself is validated to the levels specified in API 670 Annex D. The integral cable strain relief is the most mechanically stressed point in the assembly; inspect it during every planned outage for cracking or chafing. A fractured cable at the strain relief produces an intermittent open circuit that is extremely difficult to diagnose remotely — it shows up as random NOK trips that clear when the machine is at rest.
