Product Overview

330909-00-50-10-01-05 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime. Ship Today from Xiamen.

Every minute a turbine, compressor, or pump sits idle because of a failed proximity probe, you’re bleeding money. A single unplanned shutdown in a petrochemical plant can cost $50,000–$500,000 per day in lost production. The Bently Nevada 330909-00-50-10-01-05 is in stock at our Xiamen warehouse right now. We don’t quote lead times in weeks — we quote in hours. Place your order before 14:00 CST and it moves today.

This is not a refurbished unit. Not a grey-market pull. It is a 100% original Bently Nevada 3300 NSv eddy current proximity probe, sourced through verified distribution channels, inspected before it ships, and backed by full traceability documentation. When your machinery protection system throws a probe fault and your DCS is screaming, this is the part that gets you back online.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

After ten years of field work, here is what actually goes wrong with the 330909-00-50-10-01-05 and what to check before you condemn the probe.

Fault: Probe Not OK / Proximitor OK LED off
Nine times out of ten this is a gap voltage issue, not a dead probe. Before you pull the probe, measure the DC bias voltage at the driver output. It should read between –18 VDC and –22 VDC at the nominal 1.0 mm gap. If you are reading –24 VDC (rail voltage), the probe tip is too far from the target. If you are reading 0 VDC or near-zero, check the coaxial connector at the extension cable junction — corrosion at that interface kills more probes than anything else in the field.

Fault: High Vibration / Spurious Trips
Check the probe mounting thread torque. The 330909 series uses a 3/8-24 UNF thread. Under-torqued probes vibrate in their boss and generate electrical noise that looks exactly like real shaft vibration. Torque to 2.3 N·m (20 in-lb) and re-gap. Also verify the probe tip is not contacting the target at any point in the shaft orbit — minimum clearance at maximum runout must still be within the 0.25 mm linear range floor.

Replacement Procedure — Field Steps:

  1. De-energize the proximitor / driver module. Do not hot-swap the probe with the driver powered — you risk damaging the driver oscillator circuit.
  2. Record the existing gap voltage before removal. This gives you a baseline for re-gapping the new probe.
  3. Remove the locknut and back the probe out of the boss. Note the number of turns — this is your starting point for the new probe installation.
  4. Inspect the probe boss threads and clean with a brass brush. Steel debris in the threads will cause false gap readings.
  5. Install the new 330909-00-50-10-01-05. Thread in by hand until tip contact, then back out 1.0 mm (approximately 1.5 turns on standard thread pitch) for initial gap.
  6. Re-energize the driver and measure gap voltage. Adjust probe depth until you achieve –10.0 VDC ±0.5 VDC (nominal 1.0 mm gap for 3300 NSv system).
  7. Torque locknut to 2.3 N·m. Re-verify gap voltage after torquing — it will shift slightly.
  8. Confirm Probe OK status on the driver LED and in System 1 / DCS before returning machinery to service.

Driver Compatibility Note: The 330909-00-50-10-01-05 is designed for the 3300 NSv driver platform. It is NOT directly interchangeable with 3300 XL 8mm drivers without a firmware and configuration review. If your site runs mixed driver generations, verify the driver part number before ordering. Call us — we will cross-reference it for you in under five minutes.

Non-Standard Target Materials: If your shaft is titanium, aluminum, or Inconel, the standard 200 mV/mil calibration does not apply. You need a target-specific calibration factor from Bently Nevada. We can supply the calibration documentation with the probe on request.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The 330909-00-50-10-01-05 is not a lab instrument. It was designed to survive the environments that destroy lesser sensors — and it does so without complaint.

The stainless steel housing is hermetically sealed to IP67. That means full immersion in water to 1 meter for 30 minutes without ingress. In practice, it means the probe survives steam leaks, wash-down cycles, and the condensation that accumulates inside turbine enclosures during cold startups. The integral armored cable resists crush loads, abrasion from adjacent piping, and the constant low-frequency vibration that fatigues standard cable jackets within months.

The operating temperature range of –35°C to +177°C covers everything from outdoor installations in northern climates during winter shutdowns to the radiant heat environments adjacent to hot gas paths in gas turbines. The probe maintains its calibrated sensitivity across this entire range — you do not need to apply temperature correction factors in normal operation.

Vibration immunity is built into the mechanical design. The probe body is machined to tight tolerances, and the coil assembly is potted in a thermally stable compound that prevents coil movement under shock and vibration loads. Sites running API 670-compliant machinery protection systems specify this probe precisely because it does not generate false alarms under the vibration levels present in the machinery it monitors.

For offshore and coastal installations, the stainless steel construction resists salt spray corrosion. Units deployed on LNG platforms and offshore compressor trains have demonstrated service lives exceeding five years without recalibration in documented field studies.
