Common failure signatures on the EDS-205A:

• No PWR LED on power-up: First suspect is the 24 VDC supply rail, not the switch itself. Measure V1 and V2 terminals independently. The EDS-205A draws under 2.5W — if your supply is marginal or shared with a relay coil, voltage sag under load can prevent startup. Swap to a dedicated 24 VDC branch before condemning the switch.
• Port link LED off on a known-good cable: The RJ45 jacks on the EDS-205A use standard 8P8C connectors with no locking tab retention mechanism. In high-vibration cabinets, cables work loose over months. Re-seat all patch cables and verify with a cable tester. If the port still won’t link, the port’s magnetics may have failed — common after a nearby lightning strike or ground fault event on the field side.
