Serad PMA 628 – Stop the Clock on Your Downtime, Ship Today
Every minute your line is down, you’re bleeding money. A failed motion controller doesn’t wait for procurement cycles or distributor lead times. That’s exactly why we stock the Serad PMA 628 here in Xiamen — so when your axis drops out at 2 AM and production halts, you have one call to make. We pull the unit off the shelf, verify it, pack it, and hand it to DHL before your morning shift starts. No back-order promises. No vague ETAs. Real stock, real speed.
The PMA 628 is a multi-axis coordinated motion controller from Serad’s PMA Series, engineered for precision positioning in CNC machining centers, robotic gantries, semiconductor handling equipment, and high-speed pick-and-place systems. When this card fails, the entire axis group goes dark — there’s no partial workaround. You need an exact replacement, correctly configured, in your hands fast. That’s the only solution.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
The PMA 628 fails in predictable patterns. Knowing them cuts your diagnostic time from hours to minutes.
Fault Code F-AX-SYNC (Axis Synchronization Lost): This is the most common field failure. It appears when the controller loses encoder feedback from one or more axes mid-cycle. Before condemning the card, check the encoder cable shield continuity at both ends — a broken shield ground on a high-speed axis will inject noise that mimics a card fault. If the fault persists after cable inspection, the PMA 628’s internal DSP has likely lost its axis mapping table due to a power transient. The card does not self-recover from this state.
Fault Code F-COM-TIMEOUT (Fieldbus Communication Timeout): Triggered when the host PLC loses cyclic communication with the PMA 628 for more than the configured watchdog period. First, verify the fieldbus termination resistors are in place at both ends of the segment — a missing terminator on a long Profibus run will cause intermittent dropouts that escalate to full timeout faults under vibration. If termination is correct, the card’s communication ASIC may have failed.
Replacement Configuration Checklist — do this before powering up the new card:
- Confirm the replacement PMA 628 carries the same firmware revision as the failed unit. Mismatched firmware between the controller and the servo drives it commands will cause immediate F-AX-SYNC on first motion command. Check the label on the card edge — the firmware version is printed in the format FW-x.xx.
- If your system uses node addressing via rotary DIP switches on the card body, set the new card’s address switches to match the failed unit before installation. The PMA 628 reads its node address only at power-on; changing switches while powered has no effect.
- After installation, perform a full axis re-homing sequence before resuming production. The PMA 628 does not retain axis position data across a card swap — the new card boots with all axis positions at zero regardless of actual machine position. Skipping re-homing will result in a position overrun fault or, worse, a mechanical crash on the first move command.
- If your system uses a battery-backed parameter RAM module that plugs into the PMA 628, transfer it from the failed card to the replacement before power-up. This module retains tuning parameters, axis limits, and cam profiles. Without it, the controller will boot with factory defaults and refuse to run until parameters are re-loaded.
- Verify the 24 VDC logic supply voltage at the card connector is within ±5% before power-up. The PMA 628’s internal DC-DC converter is sensitive to supply ripple; a sagging 24 V rail from a failing PSU will cause random resets that are difficult to distinguish from card faults.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The PMA 628 was designed for the factory floor, not a climate-controlled server room. Its housing meets IP20 as a minimum, with the internal PCB conformally coated to resist condensation and airborne contaminants common in machining environments — coolant mist, metallic dust, and hydraulic oil vapor. The card’s operating temperature range covers the full span of an unventilated electrical cabinet in a hot summer production hall.
Vibration resistance is built into the component selection: ceramic capacitors are avoided on high-stress board locations in favor of film types that don’t crack under mechanical shock. Connector retention forces are specified to remain within spec after 500 insertion cycles, which matters in a maintenance environment where the card is pulled and re-seated regularly during troubleshooting.
In high-humidity coastal or tropical installations, the conformal coating on the PMA 628’s PCB provides meaningful protection against creepage failures on the high-density connector areas. That said, if your cabinet has a condensation problem — visible water droplets on cold mornings — address the root cause before installing any replacement card. No coating survives sustained liquid exposure.
The card’s power supply filtering is designed to reject the common-mode noise injected by variable frequency drives sharing the same cabinet. In installations with multiple large VFDs, we still recommend a dedicated 24 VDC rail for the PMA 628 logic supply, isolated from the VFD control power. This is not a workaround — it’s standard practice for any precision motion controller in a drive-heavy cabinet.
Global Express Logistics
Our Xiamen warehouse is positioned for fast export. When your order is confirmed, the PMA 628 is pulled, inspected, and packed the same day. We ship via DHL Express and FedEx International Priority — both services offer door-to-door tracking from our facility to your plant floor.
Transit times from Xiamen: Southeast Asia 1–2 business days, Europe 3–4 business days, North America 3–5 business days, Middle East and South Asia 2–3 business days. These are real-world times based on our shipping history, not carrier marketing estimates.
Every shipment includes a full commercial invoice, packing list, and country-of-origin documentation. For customers in the EU, we can provide the necessary documentation for customs classification under the relevant HS code for motion controllers. For customers in countries with import restrictions on certain industrial electronics, contact us before ordering — we have experience navigating these requirements and can advise on the correct documentation package.
For genuine production emergencies where you need the unit on the next available flight, contact us directly on WhatsApp. We can arrange same-day courier collection for orders confirmed before 14:00 CST.
