Common Fault Codes on 6SE703x Series:

  • F002 — DC Bus Overvoltage: Almost always a braking resistor issue. If G93 chopper is intact but F002 persists under decel, measure the braking resistor value and check the connection at terminals R+ / R-. A shorted or open resistor will not trigger the chopper correctly.
  • F011 — Motor Overcurrent: Before condemning the drive, verify motor cable insulation resistance (megger test, 500 V DC). A degraded cable on a 132 kW motor will pull the drive into overcurrent on every start attempt. Also check P353 (current limit) — previous technicians often set it too low during commissioning.
  • F023 — Ground Fault: On older installations, check the PE bonding at the motor terminal box. Moisture ingress in conduit runs is the usual culprit in humid plant environments.
  • A078 — PROFIBUS Communication Loss: This is a warning, not a trip, but it will freeze your process. Check the CBP2 board seating — the G41 board connector oxidizes over time. Reseat it, verify the DP address DIP switches match your GSD configuration, and confirm termination resistors are active only at both physical ends of the bus segment.
  • F041 — Speed Controller Monitoring: Encoder signal loss or encoder power supply failure. Check the HTL/TTL encoder supply voltage at X103 and verify the pulse count parameter P151 matches the actual encoder PPR.
