ABB DSQC561 3HAC048550-001 — Stop the Clock on Your Downtime. Ship Today.
Your IRC5 robot is down. The line is cold. Every minute without this board costs you money — rescheduled shifts, missed delivery windows, customer penalties. The DSQC561 Serial Measurement Board (SMB) is not a commodity part you can improvise around. It is the axis-position backbone of your entire IRC5 system. Without it, the robot will not move, will not calibrate, and will not restart safely.
We stock the ABB DSQC561 (3HAC048550-001 / 3HAC060919-001 / 3HAC16036-1) in Xiamen, China — verified, tested, and ready to pack the moment your order clears. DHL Express to most destinations in 2–4 business days. No waiting on ABB’s lead times. No factory minimums. One unit, shipped today.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
How do you know the DSQC561 is the failed component? The IRC5 controller is not subtle about it. Common fault signatures that point directly to the SMB:
- Error 50001 / 50002 — SMB Communication Fault: The controller cannot establish serial communication with the measurement board. First check the ribbon cable and connector seating. If the cable is intact and the fault persists after a cold restart, the SMB itself has failed.
- Error 50010 — Battery Low on SMB: The onboard battery is depleted. Calibration data may already be corrupted. Replace the SMB and plan for a full fine calibration session immediately after.
- Error 50020 — Resolver Fault on Axis X: Can indicate a failed resolver, but if multiple axes throw this simultaneously after a power event, the SMB is the common point of failure — not six resolvers at once.
- Axis position lost after power cycle: The battery-backed EEPROM has failed. The robot will demand recalibration every startup. This is a board-level fault — no field repair possible.
- Brake-release buttons unresponsive: If manual brake release fails during maintenance, the button circuit on the SMB has failed. Do not attempt to bypass — replace the board.
Replacement procedure — field notes:
- Power down the IRC5 controller fully. Wait 60 seconds for capacitors to discharge before opening the cabinet.
- Photograph the existing SMB cable routing before disconnecting anything. The ribbon cable orientation matters — reversed installation will cause immediate communication faults.
- Remove the four M4 mounting screws. The board slides out on a rail — do not force it.
- Transfer the battery from the old board to the new one only if the old battery is confirmed good (voltage > 3.0V). Otherwise install a fresh CR2032 or equivalent specified in the ABB service manual.
- Seat the new DSQC561, reconnect all cables, and torque screws to spec.
- Power up. The controller will report calibration data lost. This is expected — proceed to fine calibration using the FlexPendant.
- Run a full axis calibration cycle. Do not skip this step. An uncalibrated robot in production is a safety hazard.
- Firmware note: The DSQC561 does not carry user-flashable firmware. However, confirm your RobotWare version is compatible with the board revision (3HAC048550-001 requires RobotWare 5.14 or later). Mismatched revisions will generate persistent SMB communication errors even on a new board.
Part number cross-reference — which one do you actually need?
- 3HAC048550-001 — Current production revision. Use this for any IRC5 system running RobotWare 5.14+.
- 3HAC060919-001 — Functionally equivalent revision. Interchangeable in the field.
- 3HAC16036-1 — Earlier revision. Compatible with older IRC5 systems. If your controller predates 2010, confirm with us before ordering.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The DSQC561 was not designed for a climate-controlled server room. It lives inside an IRC5 cabinet on an automotive stamping line, a foundry floor, or a food processing cell — environments that would destroy consumer electronics in days.
ABB’s industrial-grade PCB construction uses conformal coating on critical traces to resist condensation and airborne contaminants. The board is rated for continuous operation across a wide temperature range, handling the thermal cycling that comes with daily production start-stop routines. Vibration resistance is built into the mounting rail design — the board does not rely on friction alone; the locking mechanism prevents micro-movement that causes connector fatigue over time.
The onboard battery circuit uses a low-drain design that extends battery life well beyond the typical 5-year service interval under normal operating temperatures. In high-ambient-temperature installations (above 40°C continuous), we recommend proactive battery replacement at the 3-year mark during scheduled maintenance windows — before the battery triggers a fault during production.
Every unit we ship has passed a 4-stage inspection: visual examination of PCB traces and connectors, power-on functional test, serial communication bus verification, and packaging integrity check. We do not ship boards that have passed visual inspection alone. If it cannot communicate, it does not leave our warehouse.
