Product Overview

PR6423/007-010 CON021 — Stop the Clock on Downtime. Ship Today from Xiamen.

Every minute a turbine sits idle costs real money. A failed proximity probe on a steam turbine or centrifugal compressor doesn’t just trip an alarm — it shuts down the entire protection chain, forces a manual bypass, and puts your machinery at risk. The EMERSON PR6423/007-010 CON021 is a stocked, verified, ready-to-ship replacement. We’ve handled enough emergency calls at 2 AM to know that what you need isn’t a brochure — it’s a part on a plane within 24 hours.

This is a non-contact eddy current proximity probe from EPRO’s PR6423 series, factory-matched to the CON021 signal conditioner. It measures shaft radial vibration and axial displacement continuously, without touching the rotating element. No wear. No drift from mechanical contact. Just clean, high-frequency signal output that your MMS 6000 or Bently Nevada 3500 monitor can act on immediately.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

The PR6423/007-010 CON021 fails in predictable ways. Here’s what I see in the field, and how to handle each scenario before you even open the junction box:

Fault Code: High Static Voltage / Out-of-Range DC Bias
The CON021 conditioner outputs a DC bias voltage proportional to probe gap. Normal operating range is typically −10 VDC to −18 VDC at the recommended gap. If your monitor is flagging a static voltage outside this window, the probe tip is either too close, too far, or the probe itself has failed. First, verify gap with a feeler gauge — target gap is usually 1.0 mm to 1.5 mm depending on your calibration sheet. If gap is correct and voltage is still wrong, the probe coil is likely open or shorted. Swap the probe first before condemning the conditioner.

Fault Code: High Vibration / Noise Floor Spike
Sudden vibration spikes with no corresponding change in machine behavior almost always point to a cable fault, not a real vibration event. The PR6423 cable is coaxial and sensitive to ground loops. Check the cable shield continuity end-to-end. A nick in the outer jacket near the probe body — common in high-vibration installations — will inject noise that looks exactly like a real vibration event. Replace the full probe assembly; field-splicing the coaxial cable is not reliable.

Replacement Procedure — Key Steps:

  • De-energize the monitor channel and confirm the bypass is active before removing the probe
  • Record the existing gap voltage before removal — this is your baseline for the new probe
  • The PR6423/007-010 uses a standard thread; torque to manufacturer spec (do not over-tighten — the ceramic tip is brittle)
  • After installation, set gap to achieve the same DC bias voltage as the original probe — do not assume the new probe has identical sensitivity without verifying against the calibration certificate
  • The PR6423 + CON021 is a matched pair. If you’re replacing the probe, confirm the conditioner serial number matches the calibration documentation. Mixing unmatched pairs degrades linearity by up to 3%
  • Re-enable the monitor channel and verify the static voltage is within the acceptance window before releasing the machine to operation

Firmware / Monitor Configuration Note:
If integrating into a Bently Nevada 3500/25 or 3500/40 monitor, verify the transducer type is set to EPRO PR6423 in the rack configuration software. Using the wrong transducer type will apply incorrect scale factors and produce false readings. This is a common commissioning error when swapping from Bently Nevada 330100 probes.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The PR6423 series was not designed for a clean lab. It was designed for the inside of a turbine enclosure — oil mist, 80°C ambient, 50 g vibration, and humidity that condenses on every surface. The stainless steel housing resists corrosion from lube oil additives and process gas condensate. The cable jacket is rated for continuous flexing in high-vibration environments, which matters when the probe is mounted on a bearing housing that never stops moving.

In offshore installations, we’ve seen PR6423 probes outlast the machinery they were monitoring. The non-contact measurement principle means there’s no wear mechanism — the probe doesn’t touch anything. The only failure modes are cable damage (mechanical), coil degradation from extreme thermal cycling, and connector corrosion from water ingress. All three are preventable with correct installation and periodic visual inspection.

For installations in classified hazardous areas, verify the area classification against the probe’s certification documentation before installation. EPRO publishes zone-specific variants; the PR6423/007-010 CON021 configuration should be confirmed against your site’s Ex documentation.

Global Express Logistics

Our warehouse is in Xiamen, China — one of the most connected export hubs on the eastern seaboard. DHL Express and FedEx International Priority both operate daily flights from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, with transit times of 2–4 business days to most of Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and North America.

Here’s how a typical emergency order moves:

  • Day 0 (your inquiry): You contact us via email or WhatsApp. We confirm stock, issue a proforma invoice within 2 hours during business hours
  • Day 1 (payment confirmed): Part is inspected, packed in anti-static, moisture-resistant packaging, and handed to DHL or FedEx by end of business day Xiamen time
  • Day 2–4 (in transit): You receive a tracking number and AWB. DHL Express typically clears customs in the destination country within 24 hours of arrival
  • Day 3–5 (delivery): Part is on your receiving dock. For most European and Middle Eastern destinations, this is achievable within 72 hours of payment

For extremely urgent situations, we can arrange same-day dispatch if payment is confirmed before 14:00 Xiamen time (UTC+8). Sea freight is available for bulk orders where lead time is not critical. All shipments include a commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of conformance. Import duties and customs clearance are the buyer’s responsibility; we provide all documentation required for smooth customs processing.
