Product Overview

SRT2-VOD16ML-1 — Your Line Is Down. We Ship Today. Every Hour of Downtime Has a Price Tag.

A failed CompoBus/S output node doesn’t just stop one machine — it can freeze an entire production cell. The SRT2-VOD16ML-1 is a 16-point NPN transistor output slave module for OMRON’s CompoBus/S network. When this card goes down, your actuators go silent, your master logs node-loss errors, and your shift supervisor starts asking questions you don’t want to answer. We carry verified original stock in Xiamen. Order before 15:00 CST and it ships today. That’s not a marketing line — it’s how we operate.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

Field replacement of the SRT2-VOD16ML-1 takes under 20 minutes if you work the steps in order. Rush it and you’ll create a second fault on top of the first.

Pre-removal — put the master in STOP. Switch the CompoBus/S master (CS1W-SRM21 or equivalent) to STOP mode before disconnecting the slave. Hot-swapping under live network power risks corrupting the master’s node allocation table. A corrupted table means the master won’t recognize the new module even after correct installation — you’ll waste time chasing a software problem caused by a hardware shortcut.

Node address — photograph before you pull. Two rotary switches on the module face set the node address (×10 digit and ×1 digit). The replacement unit ships with both at position 0. If you don’t record the original address and restore it exactly, the master will detect a node conflict and lock out communication. Symptom: solid red NS LED, zero output activity, error code 8503 or 8504 on the master’s SRM unit.

Baud rate selector — the most common commissioning miss. A small jumper or DIP switch on the SRT2-VOD16ML-1 sets network speed: H = 750 kbps, L = 93.75 kbps. This must match the master’s configured speed exactly. A mismatch produces a flashing red NS LED — the module is electrically on the network but cannot synchronize. Engineers who skip this step spend 30–60 minutes checking wiring that is perfectly fine.

Termination resistor — don’t forget the end of line. If the failed module was the last physical device on the CompoBus/S trunk, a 120 Ω terminating resistor was installed at that point. When you remove the old module, that termination disappears. At 750 kbps, missing termination causes signal reflections that produce intermittent communication errors across multiple nodes — not just the one you replaced. Reinstall the resistor on the new end-of-line device before powering up.

LED status reference after power-up:

  • MS Green solid — module power OK, internal self-check passed.
  • NS Green solid — online, active data exchange with master.
  • NS Green flashing — connected but master still in STOP; normal during commissioning.
  • NS Red solid — duplicate node address or bus-off fault; check rotary switches.
  • NS Red flashing — baud rate mismatch or cable fault; check jumper and wiring continuity.
  • Output LED on, load not responding — verify NPN wiring: load must connect between output terminal and +24 V supply, not to 0 V.

Master-side error codes: Error 8501 = node count mismatch (re-scan network via CX-Integrator or SRM auto-scan after replacement). Error 8503/8504 = slave at configured address not responding (confirm address switches and cable continuity). Error 8506 = communication timeout (check baud rate and termination).

Firmware: The SRT2-VOD16ML-1 runs embedded firmware that is not field-upgradeable. There are no version conflicts with any CS/CJ/CP series master on current SRM firmware. No firmware action is required on replacement — plug in, set address, set baud rate, power up.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The SRT2 series was built for production floors, not controlled lab environments. The SRT2-VOD16ML-1 is rated for continuous operation at 55 °C ambient — that covers sealed electrical panels in foundries, press shops, and outdoor enclosures in subtropical climates. The 16 NPN transistor outputs are fully solid-state: no mechanical contacts, no contact wear, no arcing. Under rated load conditions, transistor output modules in this class carry MTBF figures exceeding 200,000 hours.

The screw terminal block interface — the “-ML” designation in the part number — is an engineering decision, not a cost-cutting measure. Crimp-pin connectors loosen under sustained vibration. Screw terminals, torqued correctly to 0.5 N·m, maintain contact integrity through the vibration profiles of conveyor frames, hydraulic press beds, and robotic welding cells. In high-vibration installations, apply a small amount of thread-locking compound to each terminal screw after final torque.

The 10–90% RH non-condensing humidity rating covers food processing facilities, coastal manufacturing plants, and tropical factory environments. For installations where condensation is a real risk — temperature cycling panels, outdoor enclosures — maintain positive panel pressure with filtered, dried instrument air. The IP20 enclosure rating protects against accidental finger contact with live parts but is not a substitute for panel-level sealing against liquid ingress.

EMC compliance meets CE Directive 2014/30/EU. In electrically noisy environments — near variable frequency drives, resistance welders, or large motor starters — route CompoBus/S cable in a dedicated cable duct with a minimum 200 mm separation from power wiring. Use shielded twisted-pair cable and ground the shield at the master end only to prevent ground loop interference that can cause intermittent communication faults.
