ACE949-2 Down? Every Minute of Drive Downtime Costs You Money — We Ship Same Day
Your Altivar drive just dropped off the Modbus network. The line is stopped. Maintenance is on the phone. You’ve already confirmed the ACE949-2 communication card is the fault — the drive keypad shows CnF or the Modbus master is throwing a timeout on that node address. You need a replacement card, not a datasheet lecture.
We stock the Schneider Electric ACE949-2 in Xiamen and ship globally via DHL Express and FedEx International Priority. Most orders to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe clear customs within 3–5 business days. You get a 100% original Altivar-series card, not a clone, not a refurb pulled from a scrap drive — a genuine unit with intact firmware and verified connector integrity.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
Ten years of field calls on Altivar drives teach you the same failure patterns. Here is what to check before you pull the card — and what to do when you confirm it is the card:
Fault Code CnF (Communication Fault): This is the most common symptom of a failed ACE949-2. The drive has lost contact with the Modbus master. Before condemning the card, verify the RS485 cable shield is grounded at one end only, confirm the 120 Ω termination resistor is present at both ends of the bus, and check that the node address on the drive keypad (parameter Add in the COM menu) matches what the PLC is polling. If all three check out and the fault persists on that one drive while others on the same bus are fine, the ACE949-2 is the culprit.
Replacement Procedure — Step by Step:
- Power down the drive completely. Wait for the DC bus voltage indicator to extinguish — typically 5 minutes on ATV71 units above 15 kW. Do not rush this step; residual bus voltage will damage the new card.
- Remove the drive front cover. The option card bay is located on the control board, clearly labeled. The ACE949-2 slides in on a keyed connector — it only fits one way.
- Seat the replacement card firmly until you feel the connector click. Loose seating causes intermittent Modbus faults that are extremely difficult to diagnose later.
- Before powering up, set the Modbus node address and baud rate via the drive keypad to match the previous configuration. On ATV31: Menu → COM → Add and tbr. On ATV71: Menu → Communication → Modbus → Add and tbr.
- Power up the drive. The Modbus master should detect the slave within two scan cycles. If the master still shows a timeout, verify the baud rate and parity settings match exactly — a mismatch of even one parameter will prevent communication.
- There is no firmware flashing required. The ACE949-2 carries no user-programmable firmware; all protocol handling is managed by the drive’s internal communication stack. The card is transparent to firmware versions across the entire ATV31 and ATV71 range.
Common Misdiagnosis: Engineers sometimes replace the ACE949-2 when the actual fault is a broken RJ45 crimp on the field cable or a failed RS485 transceiver on the PLC’s CM module. Always loop-back test the cable with a Modbus analyzer before ordering the card. That said, when the card itself has been exposed to a voltage spike — common in plants with poor earthing — the RS485 transceiver IC on the ACE949-2 burns out silently. The card appears physically intact but is electrically dead. A replacement card will resolve this immediately.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The ACE949-2 was designed for the same environments where Altivar drives operate — and those environments are not gentle. Cement plants, steel mills, offshore platforms, and food processing lines all run ATV drives, and the communication card has to survive alongside them.
The card’s RS485 transceiver is rated for ±15 kV ESD protection on the data lines, which matters in plants where cable runs pass near high-voltage switchgear. The PCB conformal coating provides resistance to condensation and airborne contaminants — a real concern in coastal industrial zones and humid tropical climates. Vibration tolerance meets IEC 60068-2-6 test standards, which covers the mechanical shock profiles typical of compressor rooms and press lines.
Operating temperature range is −10 °C to +60 °C ambient, consistent with the host drive’s rating. In practice, drives installed in poorly ventilated enclosures in summer regularly see internal temperatures above 50 °C — the ACE949-2 handles this without derating. The card draws its power from the drive’s internal 5 V logic rail, so there is no separate power supply to fail or fuse to check.
Units supplied from our Xiamen stock are inspected for connector pin integrity, PCB surface condition, and label authenticity before dispatch. We do not ship cards with bent pins, cracked housings, or missing firmware stickers — these are the tell-tale signs of counterfeit or heavily used surplus stock that will fail within weeks of installation.
Global Express Logistics
Our warehouse is located in Xiamen, Fujian Province — one of China’s primary export hubs with direct DHL, FedEx, and UPS gateway access. This matters when you are managing an emergency shutdown and every hour of delay has a cost attached to it.
Standard dispatch timeline: Orders confirmed before 14:00 CST ship the same business day. Orders confirmed after 14:00 ship the following morning. We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin in parallel with packing — no waiting for paperwork after the parcel is ready.
Typical transit times from Xiamen:
- Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia): 2–3 business days via DHL Express
- Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar): 3–4 business days via FedEx International Priority
- Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Poland, UK): 4–5 business days via DHL Express Worldwide
- South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh): 3–5 business days depending on customs clearance
- Americas (USA, Mexico, Brazil): 5–7 business days via FedEx International Priority
All shipments include a tracking number issued within 2 hours of dispatch. For time-critical orders, we can arrange Saturday delivery in most DHL service zones at an additional surcharge — contact us before placing the order to confirm availability in your city.
Export documentation including HS code declaration (8537.10 for communication interface modules), EAV (export authorization verification), and dual-use compliance screening is completed on every international shipment. We have shipped to over 60 countries without a customs hold on correctly declared industrial automation components.
