Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

The PCU-ETHIO-EI fails in predictable ways. Here’s what I’ve seen on the floor and how to handle each scenario before you even crack open the controller cabinet:

Fault Code 4310 / 4311 — Ethernet Communication Error: This is the most common trigger for a PCU-ETHIO-EI swap. Before condemning the card, verify the Ethernet cable integrity and switch port status. If the link LED on the card is dead with a known-good cable, the card’s PHY layer is gone — replace it. Do not attempt to re-flash firmware on a card with a dead PHY; it won’t recover.

Card Self-Addressing (Slot Recognition): The DX100/DX200 uses automatic slot recognition for PCU cards. After seating the new PCU-ETHIO-EI, power cycle the controller fully — do not use the software restart. The controller must enumerate the PCU bus from cold boot to correctly assign the card’s internal address. Skipping this step causes persistent Alarm 4310 even with a good card installed.

IP Address Configuration: The PCU-ETHIO-EI does not retain IP settings on the card itself — all network parameters (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, port assignments) are stored in the DX100/DX200 controller’s system parameters (S2C parameters, specifically the Ethernet I/O settings under the maintenance menu). After card replacement, you do not need to reconfigure the card — the controller pushes the stored parameters on boot. Confirm the parameters are intact before assuming the new card is faulty.

Firmware Compatibility: The PCU-ETHIO-EI is compatible with DX100 system software versions 1.xx through the final release, and DX200 from initial release onward. If your controller is running a very early DX100 firmware (pre-1.10), there is a known issue with Ethernet I/O card enumeration timing. Update the controller firmware first if you have persistent slot recognition failures after a cold boot.

DIP Switch Settings: Unlike some older Yaskawa PCU cards, the PCU-ETHIO-EI has no user-accessible DIP switches for address or termination setting. All configuration is software-driven. If you see a card with DIP switches in the same slot position, you have the wrong card — verify the part number label before installation.

ESD Precautions: The PCU-ETHIO-EI’s Ethernet PHY and FPGA are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Always use a grounded wrist strap when handling. I’ve seen cards arrive from other suppliers DOA due to improper packaging — ours ship in anti-static bags inside foam-lined boxes, every time.

Post-Replacement Verification: After cold boot, navigate to the controller’s I/O monitor and confirm the Ethernet I/O card appears in the device list with status “Normal.” Run a ping test from the connected PLC or PC to the robot’s Ethernet I/O IP address. If ping succeeds but I/O data is not exchanging, check the I/O assignment table in the controller — slot mapping may need to be re-confirmed if the old card was manually assigned.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

Robot controller cabinets are not clean rooms. The PCU-ETHIO-EI is engineered to operate in the real industrial environment — not the spec sheet version of it.

Vibration is a constant in press shops and stamping lines. The PCU-ETHIO-EI’s PCB uses conformal coating on critical signal traces and reinforced connector retention to maintain contact integrity under continuous mechanical vibration. The RJ-45 connector uses a locking tab design that resists accidental disconnection from vibration-induced cable movement.

Thermal cycling is the silent killer of electronics in foundry and die-casting environments. The card is rated to 55°C continuous ambient, but the real-world thermal design margin accounts for the heat soak inside a sealed DX100/DX200 cabinet during a full production shift. Capacitors are rated for extended temperature life — not the cheapest 85°C parts that fail after three summers.

Humidity and condensation are the enemy in coastal factories and facilities without climate control. The conformal coating on the PCU-ETHIO-EI provides a barrier against moisture ingress that causes the corrosion and leakage currents responsible for intermittent communication faults. If your previous card failed after a rainy season, this is why — and the coating is why the replacement lasts longer.

EMI from variable frequency drives, welding equipment, and servo amplifiers is endemic in automation environments. The card’s Ethernet interface uses transformer isolation at the RJ-45 port, providing common-mode noise rejection that keeps your TCP/IP link stable even when the welding robot next to it is running at full power.

Global Express Logistics

Our dispatch hub is in Xiamen, China — one of the country’s primary export ports with direct access to DHL, FedEx, and UPS international gateways. Here’s exactly how your order moves:

Day 0 — Order Confirmed: Payment confirmed before 3:00 PM CST triggers same-day pick, inspection, and packaging. The PCU-ETHIO-EI is pulled from our climate-controlled storage, visually inspected against the part number label, photographed, and packed in anti-static + foam-lined export carton.

Day 0 — Export Documentation: Commercial invoice, packing list, and certificate of origin are prepared simultaneously. For customers requiring FORM A (GSP certificate) or specific customs declarations, these are prepared on request at no additional charge. HS Code: 8537.10 — we handle the classification correctly so your shipment clears without delay.

Day 1 — In Transit: DHL Express and FedEx International Priority typically achieve the following transit times from Xiamen: Europe (Germany, Netherlands, UK) — 2 to 3 business days. Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia) — 1 to 2 business days. North America (USA, Canada, Mexico) — 3 to 4 business days. Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia) — 2 to 3 business days. Australia and New Zealand — 3 to 4 business days.

Tracking: You receive the AWB number within 2 hours of dispatch. We monitor shipments proactively — if a customs hold or delay occurs, we contact you immediately with documentation support to resolve it.

Emergency Options: For absolute critical situations, we can arrange courier hand-carry service to select destinations. Contact us via WhatsApp for same-day assessment of this option.
