- Intermittent “Voter Disagreement” alarms on AI channels — one TMR leg is drifting. If the disagreement consistently implicates the same leg across multiple channels, the 3706A on that leg is the suspect.
- Module not recognized after power cycle — firmware handshake failure. Try reseating first; if the fault persists across two chassis slots, the module is defective.
- Open-wire diagnostic active on all channels despite confirmed field wiring — internal input conditioning circuit failure. Replace the module.
Step-by-step hot-swap replacement procedure (live Tricon system):
- Confirm the Tricon system is in 2-out-of-3 voting mode and the remaining two legs are healthy. Do not proceed if a second leg is already faulted — you will lose TMR redundancy.
- In TriStation 1131, navigate to the I/O diagnostics panel and note the slot address of the faulted 3706A. Record the chassis number, slot number, and leg assignment.
