CAD32MD Down? Every Minute of Downtime Costs You — Get Back Online Fast
Your line stopped. The CAD32MD auxiliary relay is the culprit — a failed coil, welded contacts, or a blown interlock path. You’ve been here before: scrambling through local distributors, getting lead times of 2–4 weeks, watching production losses stack up by the hour. That ends here.
We stock the Schneider Electric CAD32MD in Xiamen, China — verified original, shelf-ready, and dispatched within 24 hours of order confirmation. DHL and FedEx express lanes get it to your door in 2–5 business days, anywhere in the world. No substitutes. No grey-market risk. Just the exact part your panel needs.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips
Common failure modes on the CAD32MD in the field:
1. Coil open-circuit (most frequent). Measure coil resistance across A1–A2. A healthy MD coil reads approximately 4,700–5,200Ω at 20°C. An open reading (OL) means the coil winding has failed — typically from sustained overvoltage on the DC bus or thermal cycling in poorly ventilated enclosures. Do not attempt to rewind. Replace the unit.
2. Welded NO contacts. If the relay fails to drop out when the coil is de-energized, probe contacts 13-14, 23-24, 33-34 with the coil dead. Continuity on any NO pair indicates contact welding — usually caused by inrush current from inductive loads without suppression. Before fitting the replacement, install a LA4DE1U diode suppressor across the coil terminals to protect the new unit.
3. Intermittent operation / chattering. On 220V DC bus systems, voltage sag during motor starts can drop below the CAD32MD’s drop-in voltage threshold (~176V DC). Log the DC bus voltage during the fault window. If sag is confirmed, add a hold-in capacitor or upsize the DC PSU. A chattering relay will destroy contacts within hours.
4. NC contacts not opening. Check for mechanical binding caused by contamination or a deformed contact bridge. This is common in dusty environments. Clean the contact chamber with dry compressed air. If the bridge is deformed, replace the unit — contact bridges are not field-serviceable on the CAD32MD.
Replacement procedure (panel live — follow your site LOTO policy):
- Photograph the existing wiring before disconnection — especially the A1/A2 coil polarity on DC circuits. Reversed polarity on a diode-suppressed coil will blow the suppressor and potentially damage the PLC output card.
- Loosen all terminal screws and remove conductors. Label each wire if not already marked.
- Release the DIN rail latch (bottom of unit) and slide the relay off the rail.
- Snap the new CAD32MD onto the rail. Verify the unit seats fully — a partially seated relay will cause intermittent contact resistance.
- Reconnect wiring per your photograph. Torque screw terminals to 1.2 N·m (do not overtighten — stripped terminals are a common commissioning error).
- Apply 220V DC to A1(+)/A2(-). Verify all 3 NO contacts close and both NC contacts open using a continuity tester or multimeter in diode mode.
- Restore the circuit and monitor for one full machine cycle before signing off.
Coil polarity note: The CAD32MD MD coil is polarity-sensitive when used with a diode suppressor. A1 must be positive. Reversing polarity will not damage the relay itself but will forward-bias the suppressor diode, creating a short circuit across the coil driver output.
Reliability in Harsh Conditions
The TeSys CAD32MD is not a light-duty relay. It was designed for the kind of environments that destroy lesser components — and the specifications back that up.
Vibration resistance: Tested to IEC 60068-2-6 at 2–13.2Hz (±1mm displacement) and 13.2–100Hz (±0.7g). In practice, this means the CAD32MD survives continuous operation on compressor skids, press machine panels, and mobile equipment without contact bounce or mechanical fatigue.
Thermal cycling: The -25°C to +55°C operating range is not a marketing figure — it reflects real-world testing across cold-start conditions in outdoor switchgear and sustained high-ambient operation in tropical process plants. The coil insulation class and contact silver-alloy composition are selected specifically for thermal stability across this range.
Humidity and condensation: IP20 protection on the front face, combined with the sealed coil assembly, provides adequate protection against condensation in climate-controlled panels. For outdoor or wash-down environments, specify an IP65-rated enclosure — the relay itself is not rated for direct moisture exposure.
Electrical noise immunity: The 6kV impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) means the CAD32MD coil and contact circuits can absorb the kind of switching transients generated by large motor contactors, VFDs, and transformer inrush without nuisance tripping or insulation breakdown. In high-noise environments, pair with the LA4DE1U suppressor for additional protection.
Contact material: Silver-cadmium oxide (AgCdO) contact tips provide low and stable contact resistance across the full electrical endurance life — critical for low-level signal switching in PLC feedback circuits where a 50mΩ increase in contact resistance can cause logic errors.
