Product Overview

6EP1333-2BA20 Line Down? Ship Tonight — Every Hour of Downtime Has a Price Tag

The call comes in at 2 AM. The SITOP PSU100S has gone dark, the S7-300 rack is offline, and the production line is cold. Your maintenance team has already checked the upstream breaker, confirmed AC input is live, and the verdict is clear: the power supply is dead. You don’t need a catalog. You need a unit on a plane.

The Siemens 6EP1333-2BA20 is physically in stock at our Xiamen warehouse. Urgent orders confirmed before 16:00 CST are dispatched the same business day via DHL Express or FedEx International Priority. No pre-order, no lead time negotiation, no waiting on a distributor’s regional hub. The unit leaves our dock, tracked, documented, and ready for customs clearance.

Every piece we ship is 100% original Siemens — not a remanufactured unit, not a compatible substitute. We source directly and maintain traceability records. Pre-dispatch testing covers output voltage accuracy, load regulation, and signaling contact function before the box is sealed.

Troubleshooting & Replacement Tips

The 6EP1333-2BA20 is a workhorse, but after 8–12 years in a hot cabinet it develops predictable failure modes. Here is what field experience actually looks like — not the manual, the real calls.

Fault Pattern 1 — No output, green LED off, AC input confirmed live
Internal fuse F1 has opened. This fuse is not field-replaceable on this model. Before fitting the replacement unit, measure resistance across the 24 V DC output bus. If you read less than 5 Ω, you have a downstream short — a shorted solenoid valve coil, a failed I/O module, or a wiring fault. Fit the new PSU into a short and it will blow within seconds. Find the short first.

Fault Pattern 2 — Output voltage present but sagging under load (below 22.8 V)
Output filter electrolytic capacitors have degraded. This is the most common failure mode in units operating above 50 °C ambient for extended periods. The PSU will not throw a fault LED — it simply droops under load. Symptom at the PLC level: CPU resets intermittently, especially during high-current I/O scan cycles or when multiple solenoids energize simultaneously. Confirm with a load bank or by measuring voltage at the PSU output terminals versus at the CPU backplane power connector.

Fault Pattern 3 — Signaling contact (terminals 11/12) open despite healthy output voltage
Internal voltage comparator drift. Verify with a multimeter across terminals 11/12 — the contact should show continuity (closed) when output exceeds approximately 21 V. If the contact is open and output is 24 V, the comparator threshold has shifted. Also check for corroded wiring lugs at terminals 11/12 before condemning the unit — this is a common false alarm in coastal or high-humidity plants.

Fault Pattern 4 — Overload LED flashing, output in foldback
Your 24 V DC load budget exceeds 5 A. Add up every consumer on the bus: CPU backplane, digital I/O modules, analog modules, solenoid valves, sensors, indicator lights. If the total exceeds 5 A, the PSU is protecting itself correctly. Solution: add a second 6EP1333-2BA20 in parallel (the SITOP PSU100S supports parallel operation for redundancy and load sharing) or upsize to the 10 A variant, 6EP1334-2BA20.

Replacement Procedure

  1. De-energize the panel. Apply LOTO per site procedure. Verify zero voltage on AC input terminals L and N with a calibrated meter — do not rely on the breaker position indicator alone.
  2. Photograph all wiring before disconnecting. Note terminal numbers: L, N, PE on AC input side; +24V, 0V (M), 11, 12 on DC output side.
  3. Release the DIN rail latch at the bottom of the unit and slide the PSU off the rail toward you.
  4. Transfer wiring to the replacement unit terminal-for-terminal. Tighten input terminals to 1.5 N·m and output terminals to 0.8 N·m. Do not exceed torque — the terminal block bodies are nylon and will crack under overtorque, creating intermittent contact faults that are extremely difficult to diagnose later.
  5. Before closing the panel, check the output voltage trim potentiometer (accessible through the front label window). Factory default is 24.0 V. If your system compensates for cable voltage drop by running at 24.5 V, set it now with a small flathead screwdriver while measuring output voltage with a meter.
  6. Re-energize. Measure output voltage at the PSU terminals and at the most distant load point. Confirm signaling contact 11/12 closes within 2 seconds of power-up.
  7. Monitor under production load for 15 minutes. Watch for any sag below 23.5 V — if present, your actual load exceeds the 5 A rating and you need to add capacity before the next shift.

Configuration note: The 6EP1333-2BA20 is a pure analog switched-mode power supply. There are no DIP switches, no bus address settings, no firmware version to match, and no software commissioning required. Swap it in, set the output voltage trim, and you are done. This is a genuine advantage during an emergency replacement — zero configuration risk means zero chance of a commissioning error adding to your downtime.

Reliability in Harsh Conditions

The SITOP PSU100S line was not engineered for a climate-controlled server room. It was built for the environments where industrial automation actually lives: press shops with floor vibration measured in g-forces, coastal chemical plants where salt-laden air attacks every exposed terminal, and tropical facilities where the ambient temperature inside a non-air-conditioned cabinet routinely hits 55–60 °C by mid-afternoon.

The operating temperature range of −25 °C to +70 °C covers unheated outdoor enclosures in Siberian winters and non-air-conditioned machine rooms in equatorial facilities. The wide-range AC input — 85 to 264 V AC, auto-sensing — means the unit absorbs voltage fluctuations from weak grids and generator-fed sites without nuisance tripping. In regions where grid voltage swings ±15% during peak demand, this matters.

Vibration resistance is validated to IEC 60068-2-6 at 5–150 Hz, 1 g. This is not a paper specification — it means the unit can be mounted directly on press frames, compressor skids, and conveyor drive panels without the output ripple spiking into the range that causes PLC analog input errors. The conformal-coated PCB variant (order suffix /S6) adds protection against condensation and corrosive atmospheres, relevant for cutting fluid mist environments and chemical process areas.

The ATEX Zone 2 / Group IIC certification means the unit has been independently tested and approved for installation in areas where flammable gas concentrations may occur occasionally — paint booths, solvent storage areas, and certain pharmaceutical process zones. Verify your specific zone classification with your site safety engineer before installation; do not rely on the product certification alone to determine suitability.

MTBF exceeds 500,000 hours at 40 °C ambient and full rated load. Units operating at 60–70% load in well-ventilated cabinets routinely exceed 15 years of service. The field failures we see are almost always externally caused: sustained overload from load growth that was never re-evaluated, input voltage transients from poorly maintained generator sets, or physical damage from panel modifications where someone drilled too close to the PSU.
