Common Fault Codes & What They Mean:

  • IOM FAIL / Module Fault LED solid red: The module has lost communication with the node unit or has an internal hardware failure. Power-cycle the node first — if the fault persists after 60 seconds, the card is dead. Pull it.
  • CH FAIL on specific channels only: Before condemning the module, check the field wiring at the ATB terminal board. Broken shield, corroded terminal, or a transmitter that has failed open-circuit will throw a channel fault that looks like a card fault. Disconnect the field wiring and apply a 4–20 mA loop calibrator directly to the terminal board. If the channel clears, the module is fine — the problem is upstream.
